The royal fokker, offical the plane belongs to Martinair, and when our crownprince is not flying him self, pilots of Martinair fly the bird.

V-Bird this story is not totally correct. The f-70 is only in maintenance by MP but not owned. It is for personal even forbidden to go insite this plane. And one of the 3 dc 10-30 is an ex martinair. the 2nd one is replaced by one from (i thouhgt) the mojave desert. the reason is that the crashed one at porto was for the Koninklijke luchtmacht.

The 3rd one is also from the desert an it is an old one from American Airlines. the renovating it now at Airbase Welschap (eindhoven military part). the plans are that he will fly as freighter/passenger and not with refueling possibilities.

The two aircraft types usually used for VIP flights in the UK are the BAe 146 of the Royal Flight and also the VC10. I'm not sure about TriStars though, the RAF has them but I don't know if they are government transporters.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

Doesn't Tony use a BA 777 sometimes for longer distance stuff, also G-OBBJ?

Emirates

Yes, Blair has used a BA aircraft on his taxpayer-funded jaunts abroad. I think that the only military-operated VIP transports are the ones I mentioned though.

Normally the a BA 777 is used for long haul flights. However when there is a major security risk a VC-10 is used. Think it was used to Pakistan once. The Bae 146 isused for short haul flights although for his holiday to Egypt, think Tony Blair hired in a B737BBJ.

If we get the A330's will that be used for long haul flights instead of the VC-10/B777?
