But the year has barely started.

How does this compare to end of february 2004, and how did 2004 end?

I don't really pay much attention to who has the most orders/deliveries. All that matters to me is who is making profits.

I am interested in airplanes, not dollars...

But okay, who is making the most profit?

Well done boeing, Allthough they have won more orders in the last 2 months dont forget the big deals Airbus has with Easy Jet and Air Berlin amongst others. Both are selling lots of planes and this is good for us all :D

P.s. Nice one on the FR deal.

A company that turns a profit, typically, indidates a healthy company. I should be on Wallstreet!! I would make a lot more $$$ than flight instructing. Wouldn't be as fun though.

It can also indicate major accounting fraud.

Money is money though. Money pays for stuff, like new airplane development. Boeing does not have the luxury of government support with new airplane development, although, I'd think it'd be pretty interesting if Boeing did recieve direct funding for commercial airplane development.

Not to the same extent that Airbus has, and I'm not including military projects. What my point was, I'd like to see Boeing Commercial recieve direct funding from the U.S. government for new airplane development. I think it would even the odds. I think it's only fair if EADS and Airbus recieve funding from their respective governments, so should Boeing (both for military projects, AND commercial).

Airbus pays back the loans it gets, but let's not get in to an A vs. B war...

And now the A vs. B 2005 order counter stands @

Airbus TOTAL = -11

Boeing TOTAL = 215

And then there still is that possible Malysian order for 60 737-800

What's happening :? Boeing is selling more in two months than in an entire year :!:

Did they revise their pricelist :?:

ciao,
TriStar

Or did the dollar fall so low against the euro that Airbus isn't competitive anymore?

That's why Airbus wants an other factory in the US, with $ cost.

Well, with a new airplane, a lot of customers will be initially interested (hence the order boom, if I recall the same happened with the A380). I suspect they shall taper off as the year goes by. I think it could be a combination of both the dollar weakness and Boeing revising its selling strategy.

I agree Knight255.

Also, Icelandair just ordered 2 B787 (2010).

Well the bulk of their 2005 orders until now, is made of 737NG's . So indeed I would rally to André's idea of the weak dollar .
