Normally yes, but the tunnel is closed for a couple of weeks, you'll have to go around.Sterre wrote:Me too. Although I 've never been to the Sandhills before. I usually go to 25L, at the road in Steenokkerzeel. Can you tell me how to get there ? Is it, coming from Steenokkerzeel centrum, passing under the tunnel and then somewhere to the right?
Thx.
Difficult to predict, most likely 02/07R will be used but 25L/25R can be used as well.Sterre wrote:I know rwy 2 is used when there's a strong northern or north-eastern wind.
For tomorrow they foresee a (N-NO ) northern or north-eastern wind of 3 to 4 Bft.
Is this enough to make AF1 take off from rwy 2 or is it possible to use 25L with 3 to 4 Bft ?

I heard on the news that Bush brought his own air traffic controllers...
Why the hell is that good for?!
Are the belgian traffic controllers not good enough?!!
Even if there were US controllers present, they wouldn't be allowed to handle the traffic in Belgian airspace. Every controller needs to be certified for his working position.
E.g.: moving from EBBR TWR to EBOS TWR requires a defined initiation period.
A tower controllers' license doesn't allow you to work at any tower, except the one you are checked out on.

i heard on the news that the landing clearance could only be issued by an American controller, thats why they were there.

Personally I think 07R will be used. Then we have 4 options:
* The spot along the trees at the RWY 02 threshold
* The sandhills
* The Refugee Centre
* The Kortenbergsesteenweg
Personally I'd prefer the Refugee Centre, but something tells me our friends from the police will keep an eye on that one. So if I count that one out, then the sandhills seem like a good option. I don't think he'll be rotating by then, not at all, but you should be able to see him rotate before he's too far.
Any update on AF1's STD/ETD?
Greets,
Ivan

Hello
Apuneger:
I think so too. But when i arrive i have something more than an hour time to sketch the situation and to think about my plans. So i just check out if there is any police control, because if it's going to be 25L/07R i will be there if possible , else at the sandhills and my hope is still going for 02. At the treshold at those trees you mentioned (apuneger) you have indeed a remarkable sightseen.
So lets hope we find out wich runway he'll leave soon.
One more thing....does airforce one departs at the same runway as ALL aircrafts...because it that's so...than it probably will be 07R.
thanks in advance and regards: Yannick

Under the current wind conditions pax aircraft depart from 02/07R, cargo aircraft from 07L.
02 is mainly for US, UK and some flights to Holland, Denmark etc... Germany should be 07R however, this requires the least turns during the SID (if he doesn't get a direct clearance to OLNO for instance).

Sorry to see they asked you to delete your pics Woodpecker. Nothing hazardous over there I think. But that's my opinion.
Anyway, seems like it's going to be fun tomorrow. I wonder what they're going to tell us today to get rid of us. Will we be standing too close to the fuel depots or will we be interfering with 'instruments'...
I still hope they'll allow us to take some photos. I think it's going to be 50/50...
Greets,
