Hi everybody,
as expected AF1 came in on RWY 25L. When we arrived there around 20h00 we were sent away by local police, telling us that today parking your car at the Kortenbergsesteenweg was prohibited, all the way to Kortenberg.
Fortunately we found another road leading quite close to the 25L approach path, not far away from where we would normally stand.
Around 20h35 things became very quiet on the approach side, except for the MD helicopter from the police, doing nothing but searches with its spotlight above the 25R approach path, looking at some houses, following some cars etc. We started to have some doubts about AF1's RWY.
But, since some fellow forum members confirmed that AF1 was allocated RWY 25L, we stayed there waiting in the freezing cold. At 20h50 we spotted an aircraft approaching into BRU. It turned out to be the USAF 757, which landed on RWY 25L. At the same time however, another aircraft could be seen on downwind for 25L (or just going to BRUNO VOR, I'm not sure). This would be AF1, no doubt about that.
Anyway, at 21h00 AF1 was on long finals for RWY 25L and at 21h03 he made a smooth landing on RWY 25L while 2 police helicopters were hovering alongside its path (well, one hovering above the airport, one along its final approach path).
As soon as AF1 passed a certain TWY a lot of cars entered RWY 25L and followed the 747. Quite spectacular I must say.
While driving home we saw quite a lot of people standing at RWY 25R. Seems like there are still quite a lot of people out there that haven't heard of Luchtzak at this moment.
Anyway, although it was quite cold and I didn't take a single photo, it was spectacular to see this beauty come in at night, even with all helicopters, some police cars at certain crossroads...
Greets and thanks to everybody for their support tonight!
By the way, I highly doubt it that photo was taken from a spot that is accessible by the general public. Sometimes I hate it to have no airside access or not working over there. But hey, life goes on, right?

Hey Guys,
AF1 landed at 2054LT according to my car watch.
Landed on 25L, not a lot of people there !
Most of the spotter where waiting at 25R!
Motorcade left the A/P at 2120LT via an exit about 100 meters before Abelag ! Exit specialy opened for him.
I will put on the site later the PIC of the UA B777 parked at Cargo side. This A/C came with the press.
Another UA B767 is standing at the satelitte, but this is the scheduled BRU-IAD which is still with a Tech Prob.

Hehe, first a small number of airplane enthousiasts were waiting near 25L, not many spotters to see.
Then suddenly, when the C-32 was heading from downwind to final approach all spotters which were waiting at 25R arrived in colonne at 25L Almost hilarious to see how suddenly I guess between 10 and 20 cars arrived at 25L and then almost simultaneously turned of the road

AF 1 parking position
Hello, could you tell me where AF1 is parked ?
Is it possible to take picture from the parking roof or other position ?
Thx to all

Yes, it was quite funny, seeing all these additional people arrive at the right RWY. Some were so enthusiastic they crashed there car against a pile
. Luckily we Luchtzakkers, heard of an arrival at 25L.
I arrived, after parking at the Kortenberg railway station, on foot, at 20h40. Right on time, it seemed. I must say I'm really impressed by AF1. IMO a very elegant and beautiful plane. Hope I can take a pic one of the coming days...

A lot of light surrounding the plane ?! ...luchtzak wrote:Had to work this evening, our driver was so friendly to take us next to Air Force One, here is an image. Not the best one though as I had to hurry:
And already refueling if my eyes are not deceiving me ? ...
I agree with the guys that were over there when she landed, just like me; it is a beautiful plane !

I just parked at my usual spot, just near the non-parking sign on the hard surfaced strip. I feared it would have been taken already, but no problem 8) Probably thanks to the cops
Btw, a lot of luchtzak visitors were also waiting at 25R
And those guys who hit the pole down at the field road, they were lucky only his tow-hook was hit and just a little paint of his car
No bumps or dents.

I was at the airport from 09:00 till 21:30, just in time to see the UA 777 arriving in the early morning hours. A start of a long day of waiting waiting waiting. Around 20:00 there were still some 10 cars at the Steenokkerzeel graveyard, all spotters standing at the soundwall were send away by police (I haven't seen any police at the graveyard during the whole day). Everybody stand-by from 20:30 when the approach was closed for all traffic (except AF1). Than we got the message that AF1 was announced for 25L, and we all hurried towards 25L (I was the first car to arrive from runway 25R). Some three minutes later, the 757 landed which was quickly followed by AF1.
All by all a nice, long and exciting day at BRU (with the C-9 at Abelag as a nice addition).
Pictures will follow later on.
Regards, Robin Bamps.

Hi guys,
I was there too (I was following the radio communications on Brussels Centerl West then on Arrival). Hehe, it was funny to see all those cars rushing into the first available parking spot, funny little crash too
I should have taken my little sony P32 to make a little video. I tried with my cellphone but I didn't get any good results
I got completely stuck later on the ring for about 10-15 minutes, a friend of mine told me they closed it to allow the limos to drive safely.
I must say I was disappointed by the security there, nothing really serious to me, no helicopters flew over the 25L landing path, they all stayed at the 25R area, weird... Anybody could have done something bad from where I was... There was maybe snipers with night vision googles hidden in the fields but I don't think so.
See ya in 4-5 years

Here are my photos I took of Airforce 1. A pitty the side photo is not that superb because of the lighting that was put on AF1!

Well I'm already happy that I saw AF1 and at least that I have a picture.

I couldn't go to Zaventem, but this is what I would have heard if I would have had a device to listen in to aircraft-ATC communication: 8)
as from approximately 20h20, all Brussels bound arrivals (except the SAM fligth and AF1 itself of course) got instructed by ATC to hold (over KERKY or ANT). For comfort, some aircrafts requested 2-min legs holding patterns, but they were all only allowed the standard 1 min leg holding patterns. A SAS flight told to hold over ANT got a little impatient for the unexpected holdings:
SAS: Brussels, how long should I expect to hold over ANT?
ATC: expect a delay of two-zero minutes sir
SAS: (surprised) Can you confirm , two-zero minutes ???
ATC: that's correect sir, two-zero minutes.
SAS: What's the reason of this delay, if I may ask?
ATC: priority flight, sir.
SAS: I don't understand...
ATC: state reasons sir, a priority flight.
SAS: I'm a little low on fuel, is Brussels airport closed or what?
ATC: No sir, there's a priority flight.
(another plane felt pity for the female ATC doing an excellent job, and said to the SAS pilot: "You should read the newspapers!"
20h34: AF1 announces itself on Brussels Center (131.100). ATC says "AF 1, good evening, routing KOKSY-KERKY-BRUNO, expect 25L in Brussels". When I heared that routing, I already knew it would fly over my house (near Mechelen). AF-1 was sent down to FL140, a little later FL120 and then switched to Brussels Arrival around 20h47. at 20h50, I heard (and saw!) the presidential jumbojet pass over my house at an altitude of around 6000ft.
Well before reaching Bruno, AF-1 was allowed to descend to 2000 ft, and was allowed to turn right to a 150 degrees course for base leg. A little later, AF-1 got the ILS interception course of 220 degrees, and was cleared for the ILS 25L approach. Once established on the ILS, AF-1 then transferred to Brussels Tower, where it got immediate landing clearance (of course) and after some wind checks, AF-1 finally touched down 25L at exactly 21h00.
