Info on Ryanair 737-200's?

Post by speedbird1 »

Just a quick question regarding Ryanair's 737-200's. Whilst being extremly busy during my lunch hour..... breezing through planepictures.net I noticed a picture of a Ryanair 737-200 with a US reg on it with a comment saying that it was going to it's new owners. Is this the case with all the old Ryanair 737's? If I am right in thinking that Ryanair are going to retire them soon, but how long or is it just this one? Also who is the new owner of this aircraft? N637AD is the new reg. Many questions for you all!
Thank you!

Emirates,

I found an article that says that Ryanair was going to sell all 20 Boeing 737-200 to Autodirect Aviation, in fact 6 of them where already retired. The other 14 will be faced out from November 2004 till December 2005

That's new to me. I thought that Ryanair had already phased out all of their B732's ?? Didn't they planned to do that because of the cracks they found on some of them ?

Only the ones with the crackes have been retired. The other ones still in service are fine. The last -200 are based only in Dublin at this time. They aer getting really old though, but it is still an adventure to fly them :)
I'm working mostly on the -800 but when I see a -200 day on my roster. It really makes my day :D I'm a fan of the old ladies!

cheers

So there's 14 left to get! Although how many fly into Charleroi a day? Sorry for all these questions!

It seems like some will have a future, but most of them will be broken up and used for spares. Some were allready transported on a truck from Preswick to Bournemouth (No Tail, No stabelizer, No wings, No wheels.

Hello,

This is my first post on this website.

The link to a topic on this on Airliners.net was given, I am the member whom posted that topic.

There are only 2 Ryanair 737's at Bournemouth, And have been brought by Channel Express, they are being scrapped and all useful parts kept for channel express's 737-300 fleet.

Uh... Withdrawn from use ?
I'm more familiar with WSF (withdrawn from service) or WO (written-off).
