Where is this photo made?
Hello,
I am a spotter from Germany and a new member here. I usually go to CGN and DUS, but I am interested in BRU also. I have some questions.
I found the following photo at a German website:
http://www.flugzeugbilder.de/show.php?id=291304
Can anyone tell me, from which place it is taken, and how I can get there by public transport (I would come by train via Leuven)?
With which direction of the wind the planes are coming along there, and how much planes?
Which objective do I need there?
Thanks for any answer!

Made from "the wall".
When he planes land on 25R, take off from 25R and 20 you can make pictures like this:

About the lens: a 300mm lens should be no problem on that spot.
About to get there, I always go there by car, maybe there a bus from Kortenberg of Zaventem trainstation to Steenokkerzeel-centre (that spot is in Steenokkerzeel)

With 300mm u can allready take wonderful closeups, especially from the previous line of the taxiway. 200mm is enough to make quite good photos. I think, about the transport, u should ask that to Jordi steeno, member "Brusselsairport", he lives in Leuven.
At the soundwall, as Bottie already mentioned, u can take picture of landing aircraft on runway 25R and runway 20, and taxiing aircraft to both that runways. Here is another picture taken at 100-150mm.

Good luck at Brussels !
Edit : Btw, i think bottie tryed to say all landings on 25R instead of 25L

Basically you should try to get to the town of Steenokkerzeel (take a bus from the railway station of Kortenberg or maybe even from the airport terminal). From the town of Steenokkerzeel, walk north towards the newly-built roundabout (direction Mechelen) and the cemetery. At the roundabout you can access (by foot or bike only) the newly-built road to Zaventem and Woluwe (built to take traffic away from the city centre of Steenokkerzeel), heading south. There you'll see some very interesting spots along taxiway W4.

I think that some more pictures will give a better explanation of what can be seen there. Here are some pics i took through the previous months, when taxiway Wisky was open again after some works.

*Especially at 10:05 from Frankfurt

Royal Air Maroc can come with B767-300 istead of B73G
Egyptair can come with A300-600 instead of A320
Between 10 o'clock and 12:30 this usually departs :
2x AA

2x DL
1x CO
3x SN
1x ALX
Get a look at http://www.biac.be/departures/ for the actual departure hours.
The aircrafts that are the heaviest loaded will taxi via taxiway Wisky.
Or if there is less or no wind, more heavies will taxi via that taxiway.
Be sure the wind direction is SW to have rw25R in use.
For the cargos :
Asiana Cargo B74F
Korean Air Cargo B74F
Kalitta Air B74F
Singapore Airlines Cargo B74F
Cathay Pacific Cargo B74F
Eva Air Cargo M1F
Saudi Arabian Cargo M1F
World Air Cargo M1F
Ethiopian Air Cargo B757-200
For the cargos u can find a good timetable here :
http://users.pandora.be/T.F.P/Bestanden ... nter04.xls
With specials thanks to Thomas Steenhouwer ! (Vonsmalhausen)
These cargos can sometimes taxi via taxiway wisky when they are heavy loaded.

How much traffic is there usually? I am interested especially in long distance planes from Asia and America like 767, 777, 747, 330, 340.
What heavies do we have here:
PAX: AA B763, Delta B763, CO B764, Biman DC10, SN A330. So no B777 (except now and then a Egypt Air B772). Sometimes A300-A310 ... for this moment no PAX-services (but this will change
Cargo: Saudi MD11F (the B747 goes to OST), Cathay B747, Singapore B747, Kalitta B747
It's possible I forgot some, if so please, please complete the list
EDIT: check Robin's answer
Ok, what you do is the following :
- Take a train to Brussels North, there change to a L (stoptrain) train to Leuven and get off in "Kortenberg"
OR
- Take a train to Leuven, there change to a L train to "Geraardsbergen" and get off in Kortenberg.
When you go down the stairs in the trainstation of Kortenberg go to the left. There you will see a busstop, you need the one on the opposite side of the road. Any bus should go to Steenokkerzeel.
After that just follow apuneger's directions...

Thanks for all your help!
Surfing along the websites of "De Lijn" and the "Gemeente Steenokkerzeel" (map) I found out how to get there by public transport. I post it for anyone who will have the same question:
Train from Leuven or Brussel-Noord to Kortenberg, bus until stop "Steenokkerzeel Kerk", than a few meters by feet.
The bus needs nine minutes from Kortenberg to Steenokkerzeel, by feet its a little bit longer......!

by feet it will take around 45 minutes, I tried it, and gave up
You will have to wait for the bus a while, if I have it correctly the bus stops at trainstation of Kortenberg around 39...
During your waiting time you could already go have a look at the approach of 25L, there is a busstop very close to the water tower... Keep an eye on your watch tho'...
Enjoy your time in Brussels

Yesterday, on the way home from the coast, we made a stop at Steenokkerzeel to have a look at this place. Really nice! Unfortunately I had my spotting-camera leaved at home!
For anyone who is interested: There is a busstop about 100m from this place, named "Steenokkerzeel Nieuwstraat". From trainstation Kortenberg line 721, direction Vilvoorde, drives along there.
Its a really nice place and I will come back in summer, better by car than by train and bus - its easier!
Edit: I forgot a question. What`s about the working place there? Would the workers be angry if I go there weekdays?
