Air France-KLM to buy Rekkof 70?
In earlier years, Rekkof (Fokker backwards) was created, to produce Fokker JetLiner aircraft. This would include the 70, and 100. The company would start production when 85 orders would be reached. Rekkof believes the the 70 and 100 both have a good future, this is evident in Europe now, since many ex-American Airlines aircraft are being buoght. THis includes HElvetic Wings, Germania, Austrian Arrows, and EUJet. Others will surely follow. After Rekkof's announcement, that production would start this JAnuary (2005) and would roll off in January 2006, I was surprised. So, who ordered the 85 aircraft? KLM and Air France were thinking about it, but wasted fleet commonality, opperation Fokker, Bombardier, and Embraer. Both opperate the Fokker 100, and the Fokker 70,in large numbers. SAS and Lufthansa are also constantly being mentioned, after Dornier went bankrupt, Lufthansa still has to pick a replacement. VLM will probably also opperate this aircraft, since the Rekkof boss, is the VLM owner, and he has expessed his hope to opperate larger aircraft in the VLM fleet, these including the Fokker 70 and the Fokker 100. So, to keep the exightment, who is the new opperator?
I love these crafts. Hope they will really be rebuilt soon.
From what I know about AF's Fokkers, they receive a new F100 in March (they constantly have new F100 in theur fleet, both Régional and Brit Air), and they give entire satisfaction, contrary to Bombardier which have maintenance problems.
It won't surprise me if they harmonized their regional fleet with Embraers and Fokkers...
Brit Air is still receiving their last CRJ700, but they wanted at one time to cancel them for ERJ170!! Maybe the Rekkof projetc will make them change their mind...

I'm sorry to say that, but AFAIK Rekkof have no chance with AF-KLM. Embraer is the favorite one. Of course, I haven't got all the cards in my hand but most of the people who think that AF-KLM will order Rekkof aircrafts are:
1) Duch chauvinists
2) Rekkof enthusiasts
2) Both of them
From regional (AF) website:

http://www.fokker-aircraft.info/forum/
The best positioned to order Rekkof products are VLM.
Also, an Iranian company have signed recently an agreement for 25 Rekkof F70:

I vote for VLM only.

Also, for those who are interested by Fokker/Rekkof story, I recommend particularly this site/forum:Régional is studying very closely the new generation of aircraft, in
particular the Embraer 175 (82 seats) and the Embraer 190 (100 seats).
The first twin-engine jet airliner in this family (Embraer 170 with 72 seats) became operational in 2004, launched by a Polish company called LOT.

I would liek to see orders for the 70 other then from Iran but I would also agree that I dont see VLM as a customer. They are doing well with the Fokker 50 and can purchase 2nd hand 50's to keep the one type for maintenance and save having to purchase brand new aircraft.
Wouldnt make sense for them to change, Would love to see a huge fleet of Fokker 50's being operated somewhere !
