Since they're getting 2 MD80's I'd be surprised they onlu fly to Belgrade. Hopefully we get to see these beauty's in Brussels, Amsterdam or somewhere else not to far away...

As I could understand, the flights to BEG will be regular flights, so the other flights (to fill the shedules for 1 3/4 planes will be on charter basis (to feed all hotels belonging to the group), maybe also ACMI to start-up LCC who are in fact only travel agencies (similar to FLYWEST or EVOLAVIA). There is a huge LCC market to Dubrovnik, still open!

There is a big problem that Croatian Aviation Authorities are still controling the shedules and it is needed to have their permision.
At this moment it is possible to get a permission only for low-cost flights not competing to the Croatian Airlines flights. :dammit:

This should change when and if Croatia joins the EU in 2007.

I have read that open sky agreement between Croatia and EU should be signed this year but I think it is more possible next year.
So it will be defenetly signed before Croatia join EU :!:

Hi

Post by FOC150 »

Hi, everyone!

I'm one of the first F/O's from Dubrovnik Airline.

The Airline is created mostly from former Air Adriatic people, who went there for various reasons.

We are all very enthusiastic about it. A lot of work has been done - OM, MME, MOE etc., there are so many things to think about when starting with work, from the uniforms, to crew training, flight planning, engineering, quality and safety system, etc. It's a nice thing, as the General Manager said, to "make you visions come true". We can't wait for the airplanes to come.

The airplane will look a bit different. From the last we spoke, the belly shall be blue, the tail will have a white-yellow "libertas" (freedom) flag, and the dubrovnik picture will be a bit smaller. The engines will not be red, but white-blue, as far as I know.

The second thing is, I don't think we shall fly to Belgrade. Dubrovnik Airport, heavily destroyed by the Serbs is still trying to get back the stolen equipment and charge for the damage. ( http://www.airport-dubrovnik.hr/slike/index.htm )

JAT still isn't allowed to come to Dubrovnik until they return all the equipment they took when they were leaving together with their communist army. As far as the story goes, they are still using the handling equipment from Dubrovnik Airport on the airports throughout Serbia and Montenegro.

The Croatian people still have bad memories, so Serbian tourists are not very welcome anywhere in Croatia. They come in their own, private arrangements, but nothing organized. That's the way it is now, but who knows what the future holds.

The two latter are smaller than Belgium. This should give us hope to see them in Brussels soon....

P.S. Yes, I know, I also happen to dream from time to time!

This is the latest i have heard
Dubrovnik Airlines (Dubrovnik) is now planning to start charter operations on March 28 with a single MD-80. Dubrovnik Airport is no longer involved in the new start-up carrier.

Atlanska plovidba», a Dubrovnik shipping company, and «Zračna luka Dubrovnik» established an airline company called DUBROVNIK AIRLINES, which will handle charter air transport.

As a start, the newly founded company will have two aircraft, each with 164 seats.

In its five-year plan, the company intends to purchase seven more aircraft and to employ about seventy new employees. The start of business is expected in a few months – before the start of the tourist season in 2005.

We wish them a successful start.
