Since Iran is already producing licensed An-140 planes, would they not be better off licensing the new An-148? It would appear that it's a similar aircraft to the Fokker 70.

Sorry Luchtzak  I have very little time online just now because VC10 wants to make some phone calls, so I did not have time to search for more info.

But I think one of the high ups in VLM was involved with Rekkof and they were going to put some of Fokker's jets back into production. And I read that VLM were interested in the F70 because it is a jet which can operate into LCY.

The CEO of Rekkof Jaap Rosen Jacobson is also the Chairman of VLM. But he is intelligent enough to keep the two companies separate: that's why VLM will not buy the F70, but stick to the F50.

I knew there was some connection between the two but I couldn't think of names.

And I did read somewhere that VLM were possible customers for the relaunched Fokker 70, it was in Airliner World some time ago. I would have thought that a progression to a jet type which could operate into LCY would be a good move for VLM because it would allow them to expand and to serve destinations outside the reach of the Fokker 50, and would also give the airline more capacity because the Fokker 50 flights from LCY are very often full.

Is there really a market in the long run for Rekkof.

Boeing is going to stop 717 production soon.

I think there is a market for regional types, many manufacturers have made them. Airports like London City depend on the continued availability of the regional jet.

I think Boeing probably stopped production of the 717 because it wasn't entirely their design, like the MD-11 is no longer produced. MD had really developed the DC-9 and its variants and it had been a very fine aircraft. I wouldn't have thought that the type had come to the end of its natural life. I think Boeing probably prefer to concentrate on their own designs and seem to be looking more to the 7E7 than anything else, especially with the A380 newly unveiled.

Do you think that in 20 years everybody is going to fly a380?

If they can deliver an efficient, not to expensive, modern family of regional jetLiners, than of course there's a market for them. They will have to be better than Embrear if they want to catch up the lost time...

An A380 landing at LCY, I want to see that! :D

Seb.

EDIT: by the way, for those who are interrested by Fokker and Rekkof aircraft, here is a good forum:

Embraer seem to have a little lifecycle issue..
Fokker aircaft seem to support more take-off and landing cycles than the brasilian aircraft ..
Correct me if I am wrong !

"A E170/175 airframe is certified for........ 30.000 cycles(take off, pressurized, landings) which means even now there economic life time would end after just 10 years which makes it very hard with the current ticket price to earn some money.
A F70 will be cheaper(list price below 19mil $) and is certified for 90.000 cycles or an economic life span of 30 years.
In my view that is where the interest is coming from."

this is from a member in a.net forum..
answers my question !!!!

I have no clue about the certified cycles of F70/Emb170.

Aviopic said Emb 170 have 30.000 certified cycles but i remember I have read 60.000 in an other A.net thread.

Anyway, the under carriage is one thing, the rest of the aircraft is an other...

My best hopes for the F70 revival!

Seb.
