Fairchild-Dornier bankruptcy sale, finally...

Post by YACHTIE »

For those collectors and others interested in nostalgic memorabilia there will a auction sale of all the leftover assets of the former aerospace company, including the prototype 728 Regional Jet.
Go to http://www.dechow.de/start.htm and click on: "Versteigerungen"
Lots of interesting items available.........from specific aircraft related items to cars and PCs etc.

A sad day for ex Dornier employees.

Earliest info that I found on www.luchtzak.be is from September 2003: https://www.aviation24.be/postp9619.html#9619

OK I'll try the short story.
Fairchild Dornier filed for bankruptcy protection in April of 2002, (the whole company).
The bankruptcy lawyers tried to run it and sell of portions (different divisions like the 328Jet division, Airbus work etc.) and were succesfull with some of that.
The 728Jet development Division got sold of to a Chinese consortium that was going to continue the 728 and get it up in the air in Germany but was unsuccesful (failed financially also).
So basically whatever did not get picked up by other companies is now on the auction block.

Hope that explains it
