The article reads : "Aircraft lessor may buy up to 20 7E7s".
Maybe the "may" in the title says more about the US feelings on the subject of F-WWOW being revealed to the world on that day, than it says about the possible leasing of 20 Boeing aircraft ?

With all the fuss about the 380 nobody was interested in Boeing the last days. The article would have had more effect if they released it a week earlier or a week later ... But hey, that's Boeing (falling on her face, HARD !)

Although I do hope both aircraft (A380 and B7E7) will become a succes. Competition is a very good thing, cause it keeps the quality (compared to the price) very high. They both want to offer the best and they both want to offer it as economical as possible !

I would say : Just Fight ! (meaning : keep making planes better and better)

I think it's a good thing that both companies have their own direction of future market share, at least this way we can see which models are more popular with which airlines (some airlines may want 7E7 and an A380...).

Segmenting the market like this in 2005 could produce gaps where airlines may wish to invest in the future.

I can't wait to see how both "products" end up being used... on the one hand we have Virgin and Emirates arguing over who will have more seats/space in their A380's - on the other, which airline will be the first to announce the 7E7 as the "first business class only flights"? With such magic as "Wi-Fi for every passenger" - making each flight more comfortable and less tedious.

I also want to know - will there be facilities on either new plane for cameras on the nose/tail/wingtip/wheels etc. I've heard rumours, but no show on either tech spec yet... anyone know anything?? It sounds more like an Airbus venture rather than Boeing!!!

I think we will very likely see camera's on the A380 like we've seen on the A340-600. The A380 is huge and the distance hetwen the 2 outer bogey's isn't small 12.456m (without wheels ... ) to be exact.
Taxiing it through tight corners won't be easy ... so every help will be welcome and that's why I think the A380 will also have those camera's.

I don't know if the 7E7 will feature those camera's ... It won't be that large and I don't think it 'll be that hard to manouvre. But it could be that Boeing integrates the system just to make it easier for the pilots.

Not sure but I think new made B777-200ER got it too (perhaps on option only). Independently of the size, it's very usefull for the pilots to see the landing gears as well as the engines in case of a problem occurs (gears not displayed extended, after an engine fire etc..)
