Ex Alitalia MD83 is now operated by Aero Asia. Regn # UR-CEL.

It is interesting how Alitalia is selling its MD-82s. I would like to know if somebody knows how many Alitalia MD-82s is for sale.

According to the latest information:
5 to Croatia (Air Adriatic & Dubrovnik Airline)
5 to Bulgarian Air Charter (including ones already leased to KishAir)
2 top Bulgarian Hemus Air (including one already leased to Albanian)
and this one which was sold to Ukrainian Khors Air and afterwards leased to AeroAsia.

That they still can sell those planes, i have flown twice with Alitalia in an MD83 an they are uncomfortable and old!

To my knowledge, Alitalia operates only MD-82, not MD-83.

I gather they are all being replaced by the airbus and embraer Alitalia has puchased. Sad that because they have a huge fleet of them but not unexpected afterall they have had them a long while and they have seen a hell of alot of flights betwenn them all.

And maybe selling off all the old planes will benefit them financially, We all know they need it.

I Remember when all I used to see at Italian airports were md82 after md82

The MD80 in general has two big advantages:

1) 2-3 seating, which means that 80% of the seats are window or aisle
2) one of the quietest aircraft for passengers, thanks to its rear engines.

Seat 13A is considered to be the best seat in the MD80.

Financial need is paramount in Alitalias case and hence the decision to sell off all the old planes.

Seat 13A is considered to be the best seat in the MD80.

The MD80 variants were comfortable aircraft to fly in. The worst possible seat in these aircraft is the one right at the back, where the view is entirely obscured by engine. But I have found the legroom and comfort level good. It is easy to view through the window as well owing to the far back wings.

Alot nicer than the 737.

(And I didn't originally edit this post myself either! Get a sense of humour!)

Sorry for killing your topic Advisor - as a woman I should have known better than to attempt to discuss anything aviation-related on here. Please accept my apologies. It seems that women are okay to post on the forums provided they ONLY post non-aviation material. Otherwise they get overlooked and no one takes them seriously enough.

All of them are all white or with titles only.

Only Croatian Air Adriatic has painted its ex-Alitalia in own livery.
