I don't know how much time I'll get to spot in MAN because for the first time when flying to BRU we are travelling to the airport the same day that we fly, so part of the day will be spent on the train instead of in the cafe area at MAN. I am trying to get VC10 to go on the very early train from Scarborough direct to MAN so I can do as much spotting as I can before we fly (at 15:55). I have no idea what I'll be bagging at MAN because I've never flown from there at that time on a Tuesday.

As well as a little bit of spotting at BRU between holiday flights, I shall be having a proper spotting day in Kortenberg again, but mid week this time. That will be a change because I've only spotted in Kortenberg on a Sunday before.

Just back from a trip to Zurich (for the Davos conference biz) In addition we visited Strasbourg, Basel/Mulhouse, Baden-Baden (absolutely nothing noted) Frankfurt, Koln, and Liege. I made over 200 during the weekend saw way too much snow, damn near froze to death, was driven faster than I've ever been in a car (240Kph) and had some of the best laughs for years - all that and not one photograph - naughty.

Instead of visiting Brussels every time you venture abroad you should try one of the major jetports like FRA & ZRH or if cost is a problem Jet2 fly to AMS (from Leeds or MAN) where you will see plenty to keep you interested and then you can wizz down to Belgium for your ale.

btw you are never too old, one just becomes less enthusiastic - just ask your mum!

This year I am planning to visit the following airports:

DUS (especially when holidays starts - much traffic!)
CGN
FRA (Spotters meeting with the members of a German forum)
HAM (a daytrip with my school in March)
BRU (at the 25R, Steenokkerzeel)
AMS
MUC
SZG

And to the airport, where the 380 comes to Germany for the first time. That will be FRA or XFW.

@Avro

The Twingo is long gone I'm afraid. Last weeks excurision was in a Merc C180 Kompressor - impressive eh! Bit like the logs we recorded. Made over 200 for the weekend!

Concordino - FRA and ZRH are very high on my spotting/photography wish list, and so is AMS. I check every so often to see how much LH are charging on their flights to FRA out of BHX (you can do that in a day easily). ZRH is way too expensive at the moment but one day I'll make it over there - I'd be willing to try EZY to some places.

AMS is best of both worlds - some good spotting and then hop on a train into Belgium and get my beer

(And my Mum is getting more enthusiastic - she has even told me she wants to do the flight report for our MAN-BRU flight in four weeks - well, 27 days and counting down!)

I'm off to MAN next week :jumpy: :mexwave: :jump2: . We decided today to have a spotting trip next week while the animals are in kennels.

VC10 wants some good photos of our old friend the Dash 8 with the tartan tail, so I'm hoping to better the ones I already have of this bird. And it would be great if there were some heavies there, if we get there at the right time. Will take loads of photos, some video and post a report on here.
