I think a lot will depend ond the fares. Who would have ever thought that Ryanair could fill a 737 to Carcassonne (or even 2 in the beginning!) or to Shannon. Nowadays these routes seem profitable.
I guess if Flywest can get enough publicity, a lot of people might want to take a weekend break in Brest.

Brest is a convenient airport for many parts of Britanny. You would be surprised at the number of people in Belgium who have property in Britanny. Brest itself is quite a sizeable city.OO-SBZ wrote: Brest? I have my doubts too...
How would you manage to fill a Boeing 737-300![]()
Furthermore, a route to Brussels from Brest airport could be beneficial to Brest for people wishing to travel to Brussels for business, EU affairs (i.e local government) or simply tourism.
I get your point: a good blend of leisure and business passengers.Captain wrote:Brest is a convenient airport for many parts of Britanny. Let's however not forget that Ryanair axed its Stansted-Brest route on 26/04/2004 to concentrate on Dinard.
The ex-Buzz route's loadfactor was indeed beyond Ryanair's expectations (75-80 %) and the carrier operated a Boeing 737-300.
Of course, the region has got potential but probably with a smaller plane (as Fly does with its Dash 8s and B.Ae 146s) or higher fares to make sure there is some profitability...
Here are some reasons why I still have doubts on a Boeing 737-300 for that route...

When AF and La poste have divorced (remember the Aéropostale, the good old days...) Both signed a agreement that said la Poste (understand Europe AirPost) won't be allowed to do public transport. As I can see, Europe AirPost finally fund a solution by flying their planes via Flywest...
Cute, isn't it?

Hi
Europe Airposte Aircraft are only flying during the nights for main purpose of their job, ie post freight
During the day Europe Aiipost is doing charter flights (also on the WE) or "supply" aircraft on request
FlyWest has an ACMI contract for the 737-300 QC who is all the day on Brest tarmac for flying under Flywest "name", but as Flywest is not an airline but a travel agency, flights used FPO code
