KLM to buy Rekkof (Fokker) 100 JetLiner?

Post by KLMCityhopper »

After many years of a growing heap of dust on the Fokker production convayer belt, Rakkof, the new company planning to build Fokker aircraft, has finally gotten an order for the Fokker 100. Rekkof has been waiting for many years for this order, but believes the Fokker 100 and 70 have a whole life ahead, and that these can be sold again. Many ailines have been holding talks, yet so far, no firm orders were announced. The production would start again in medio 2005. Airlines like Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, SAS, Air France and KLM have been in discussions with Rekkof. It has been confirmed that more airlines joined the talking procces, and a few have confirmed. There is a suspicion that KLM and Air France will buy these aircraft together, after the merger is fully completed, for flet commonality, but both do not confirm this story. We hope that the Fokkers will take to the sky once again.

Well there have been rumours that VLM would buy Rekkof's too, but those are circling around for ages...

Why is that obviously? VLM will need a airplane that is certified for LCY, and the FokkerLine isn't (yet, at least).
If they have any commercial sense at VLM (wich they do, since they are constantly expanding), they wont pick an airplane because the boss owns a factory (alone) but because it makes the most commercial sense...

May I remind you that the Fokker 70 is certified to land on LCY as well as the Fokker 50. The Fokker 100 isn't.

The VLM is only interested in the Fokker 70.

Rekkof will concentrate initially on the Fokker 70. The Fokker 100 will be phased in during the second year of production.

And are you implying that the Fokker 70 isn't a wonderful successor for the Fokker 50?

The manufacturer's name will be Rekkof. And the name of the aircraft will be the same as in the good old days, because of the good reputation of Fokker Aircraft. So the names will be: Fokker 70 and Fokker 100.

Well, I'm learning here
I thought, since the EMB145 isn't even certified (only the 135 is, or am I wrong?) the F70 (wich is bigger isn't it?) wouldn't be either...

No I am not, since it is my all-time favorite aircraft (haven't flown it, but it looks damn good)

You are all talking as if the plane is already in production. But when will the Rekkof project finally start ? For more than a year now we constantly hear the same rumour: "Rekkof will build the new F70 and LH SAS and others might be interested....."
That sounds very nice, but can someone give us some more facts about this project please?

Well, I heard that Rekkof will launch the production as soon as they gathered customers for 40 aircraft.

There are rumours that iran has ordered 25 Fokker 70's.
Rekkof recently restyled their website. Now it is up-to-date and they are talking about new systems for the Fokker 70.

When I see all these things I think that they will start soon. But then again there are no facts! We can only hope.

You should take a look at their restyled website: www.rekkof.nl
