Where Will You Spot in 2005?

Post by Comet »

I posted this in the Worldwide spotting thread because it does not cover just Belgium and Holland.

I have some wonderful spotting lined up. First there will be Manchester (but no video this time, only photos), and then Brussels. The surprise of the year for me is Birmingham again. And this time I shall have my video camera with me so I can make my first video at BHX. And I shall be there on the days when it is possible to see the exotics which BHX is known for!! That is something I can hardly wait for because BHX is an under-rated jewel!

The only planned one this year is Malta (again). Nice place to see some old african birds sometimes.. The Belgian ones are on the list too of course. And perhaps CDG, DUS, and most probably LHR.

My great dream of the year was MAKS '05 but sice that is not likely to happen for me we have to it with trips not so fare from home as Russia:

GKE (for sure when the Arizona and New Jersey ANG KC-135's are there)
EBFS (since there are some beautifull things to spot during these TLP's... a litlle example Hellenic F-4's :p)
EBBL (this is my homebase, and every year a stunning spottersday)
MST (for all the Real Russian aircraft coming over there)
OST (with hopefully an Evergreen jumbo and at least one smoky An-12
DUS (That's not sure because I'm still have this weird allergic reaction when a CRJ crosses my view :p)
FRA (because I've never been there before)
LUX (for all the Cargolux 74's)
AMS (always neat to see some dirty NW's eh :p)
EGUN (Mildenhall, for al the MC-130's and maybe some RC-135's)
ETAD (Spangdahlem, Viper fever offcourse)
EGVA (Fairford, offcourse for the Royal Int Air Tattoo hopefully with the 4 MiG-21 Lancers which are confirmed allready)
And hopefully the museum in Kosice again and some basevisits in Slovakia if that is possible, and maybe Bulgaria also, we'll see what will turn out about that...

These are the plans.... now I have to see that I have time enough :)

Oh, and offcourse I forgot to mention the visit to Bierset for the Belgian Helidays, this was also a great day everytime again

bye

Some good spotting places there! I liked DUB when we went in 2003, very easy to get photos and video there. I don't know if I'll make OST this year, we've been to Oostende for the past few years and will probably end up trying somewhere new this year. I would like to get some good video at some point of the holiday apart from at BHX.

And I love the US airports for spotting, I was looking at my LAX photos yesterday and it was great to bag carriers you don't see in Europe.

PHX great airport with sometimes nice surprices

While you are in TUS, spend some time to visit the air & space museum. It's really great overthere.

I'll hope you know somebody in Marana, because you can't get close to it by car. There is a lot of security.

Try to make the guided tour by bus for the Davis-Monthana airbase. We had no time to do it and I regret it...

@ brubiac

I have visited Arizona before, back in 1989 so have already experienced D-M overload! This trip we have a plan. We hope to charter a Cessna to fly us over D-M and Marana taking photos en-route. That way we should get to see eveything without obstruction. The big thrill for me on this trip will be spending some serious spotting time at the big hubs so as to catch the Regional Jet waves which feed into these places. As it will be almost 5 years since I was last in the US I will probably make rather a lot of the mainline fleets too - could be some serious lists.

With my first time spotting in the USA, January 2004, I made around 1200 pictures. I had still my old camera, not the 300D. I had a whole bag with films in it.

My first visit to the US was in 1975, with spotting visits in Cleveland, USAF Museum (Wright-Patterson AFB), Washington National & JFK.

Every time I have been I look forward to visiting new States and new fields. This time will be Atlanta, Birmingham (Alabama) and Cincinatti plus hopefully a few more
