Of late Etihad is in the news a lot for recruiting people in EU, BIAC and yes in its base.

You're very cynical, indeed.

Said this, one has to realise that at least one out two local passengers that will board it, will be one less for SNBA... On the other hand, from out stations, passengers will use SNBA to join the flight at BRU*. All will depend on the commercial agreements both airlines have made, otherwise the revenue in proration on these long haul flights for the feeder is peanuts, causing the average yield to drop drastically. An airline better does NOT have this kind of traffic as a feeder, if it is not to feed its own longhaul.
In my opinion it is definitely not a good market for SNBA when more of these carriers come to fly longhaul out of BRU!
It only good for the airport and .... its spotters.

Launched in November 2003, the airline currently operates four? wide-bodied Airbus A330-200s and an A340-200, in addition to a Boeing 767 that was leased recently.
It plans to have 10 wide-bodied aircraft by the end of 2005.
In August 2004, Etihad ordered 24 Airbuses, including four of the superjumbo A380 models, four A340-600s and four A340-500s, and has taken an option on 12 additional planes for a total value of seven billion dollars.
The 500-million-dirham (136-million-dollar) capitalised airline is fully owned by the oil-rich government of Abu Dhabi, the largest member of the UAE.

About that airline, I have the same opinion as has Air France, although that too is a largely state subsidised carrier.

*In which case the ticketing plate of SN will be used, which bring a lot of avoidable costs to the 'issuing' carrier

I'm not sure BRU has done any work needed to upgrade the airport for an A380 , concrete strengthening etc..... so I think we'll wait a very long time to see one here. On the other hand, if the guys from down under would like to spend some more money.............

I did not mention that Etihad would do that, but if one wrote, i am sure Etihad would reply most humbly to possible and future business clients aka passengers.

Also, i think that since the airline is relatively new, e-ticketing shall be started shortly.

How do I book myself on Etihad Airways flights?

Through any Travel Agent, the Etihad Airways office or online (in the near future).

I had suggested people to write because and i have written to the Chairman, Dr. Ahmed bin Saif Al Nahyan's office and i am sure of a response.

hello,
is it possible that etihad is coming to Brussels because they will build at Brussels their European base because it is an airport with lots of space and growth- possibilities?

I know I can be wrong

but if I was the owner of an airline I would think out of that perspective (many will say you should think of an airport where there are lots of ask for such flights but I think it's possible at brussels because of the TGV lines and good highways between the neighbouring countries)

To set the record straight: we all (well, most) find it great that Etihad comes to Zaventem. But in fact, it should be SNBA that flies to the Emirates.
We Belgians are too humble.
We had the chance with Sabena, but we failed. (various reasons, see zillions of other items)
Now we have to act as a subcontractor. If we go in cooperation with Iranair, Etihad and/or Ethiopean, SNBA will have to undergo the hardship as a subcontractor.
Look at the Russian aerospace industry. At Irkut they are happy with the orders from Airbus for fuselage parts. But it are not Yakovlevs being made for European or American airliners.
We are setting aside our pride and bow our heads. New masters, new rules. But bread on the table...

I would rather say "the Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi will continue to Toronto".

It means that Etihad beats Ethiopian on BRU-YYZ!

just one question, Ethiad has the A380 on order but could it fly to Brussels? I don't think the capacity on that route will be high enough and is Brussels able to handle it?

Runways and taxiways are large enough to let the A380 taxi on. I'm sure about it but I think theres only 1 remotestand that is able to park on, the contactstands are to small.

Next problem is to find a perfect pushbar...
