Etihad Airways soon in Brussels
their vacature on biac website today
ERICAIRLINES,
When I was reading the vacancies on the Bru website it clear to me that the vacancies are not immediately related to a start of operation of Etihad out of Brussels. I think more that Etihad is looking to well trained an qualified persons of former Belgian Airlines like Sabena, Sobalair, City Bird, VG , ...
But why is Biac giving Etihad the opportunity to make promotion for their Job offers? Is it to help Belgian people that are looking for a job or could we expect a new operator in Brussels? Lets waith and see.
Greetz,
Dave

It really reads like they need some people to be based for Etihad in Brussels.
Imagine, Etihad coming to BRU.
They fly 4 x A330 and 1 x A340.
They are also on the order list for 4 x A380. And they have an order for B777 as well. It reads as a copy of the order list of Emirates.
We all know there is little interest to have a holiday in the Emirates. But they fly further to Sri Lanka and Bangkok.
They fly already from Munich, Geneva, London Heathrow+Gatwick.
I think this is a excercise to see what their expansion plans could be. And with the very stiff competition by Emirates, Gulf Air, Qatar Air and expanding Kuwait Air, they need to look for alternatives. In the region itself, low cost carriers are popping up as well. So, let competition rule.
We will be better off.
I would not be surprised to see Johannesburg and / or Cape Town to be added to their destination list. Emirates flies it already. Brittish and Germans are the main customers. And they start to prefer Emirates above their national carriers because of better service. Despite the extra stop in Dubai!
I would also expect a connection to Australia as well, again for the Brittish.
No USA connection yet.
Let us start a bet where they gonna use the A380's for. I bet on the existing Bangkok route. And later maybe to Australia. Certainly to Heatthrow as well, responding to the congestion problem.
Enough speculation, let us wait for the arrival of the first Etihad plane in BRU.

I think we can corelate that if BIAC is helping Etihad advertise on their site, common sense is that they are planning to fly to BRU.
They are strictly looking for local people and i hope that they plan to fly into other feeder routes in the future as well. I think they are looking for old hands.
This step is just ensuring that when they do, they have a ground staff (local language+knowledge of the area) well in place.

Ethiad need more European routes and at Brussels there is no competition to the Middle East. Would a codeshare with SN be likely?
They do want to serve the US, hence the order for long range A340's and B777's. I would expect a link or two to Australia and maybe also New Zealand as traffic on the UK-Australia/New Zealand route is high and Emirates have shown that passengers are prepared to change planes in the Middle East rather than in Singapore or Bangkok

The day the first aircraft lands it will be the best BRU has achieved in years, maybe other established carriers will follow the initiative of Etihad and fly to BRU.
It certainly will look good in BRU > http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=249261
It's not a bad idea going to Australia via Abu Dhabi with Etihad. Biac is in hands of an Australian company. And there is demand from Europe<>Oceania.
Let's wait and see

Ladies & gentlemen,
Though I do understand your scepticism about possible Etihad Airways Brussels operations, you can take my word for it that Etihad Airways will start-up scheduled services to Brussels soon. I do not have the tendency to confirm false rumours ...
Keep tuned because 2005 will be an exciting year for Brussels Zaventem Airport, ... just be patient.
For tonight's events, keep it safe and joyful and I will be reading you all next year.

I assume you both (themole & EPS_aviation) are insiders, and are reliable sources. So I can't wait to see Etihad arriving
But are there some more nice surprises for 2005 in the make behind the scenes of BIAC? I'm not requesting any company names or destinations, just curious if there are others expected to start operating to BRU.
I also found this > http://www.gulfnews.com/Articles/Busine ... eID=142551
PS/Have a save night and all the best for 2005 to you all !
Best Regards

Thanks for confirming this old rumour themole. I'm glad that this one turned out to be true.
It would be interesting if SN would put its code on that flight. But I wonder if they will do it.....

If you say that, then 2005 will be an excellent year for BRUthemole wrote: Keep tuned because 2005 will be an exciting year for Brussels Zaventem Airport, ... just be patient.

well it looks like brussels is getting back on the map of the world of airports. Looks like a nice new aircraft coming to Brussels.
And why not a day that an A330 breakes down and they have to send an A380
. Would look nice to see this one land on 07 (then the planes fly close to my house 8) )
Anyway a very nice addition and hopefully a lot of carriers follow like maybe Asian Carriers again like SIngapore did before Sars
.

Happy Newyear!
