Its good to see that the 7e7 orders are picking up lately. It is although very unlikely that Airbus was asked to submit a proposal, considering Mr Gordon Bethune background with Boeing and at a time that he will be stepping down as chairman and cheif executive of Continental. It seems to me that its very good timing for both Mr Gorden Bethume and Boeing.
Vietnam orders 4 for 2010 delivery
Sources at Boeing say they are still going for 200 by tomorrow night, whoever it is must want to make a New Years announcement!

What are the total 7E7 orders compared to the total A380 orders?
From figures reported so far it is as follows:
Airbus A380 129
7E7 112 oops thats 126 now
Apparently Boeing is sitting on a large order for 7E7's but for some reason
they have failed to release details, I strongly suspect it may be China. but
they are very careful about abiding by customers wishes.

Here is some of those China Orders I thought were being held
Well I hope BOEING don't shout too much about subsidies, just looking at this thread you see a price difference of $10million a plane
China Southern 20 aircraft at $120m each
Vietnam 4 aircraft at $125million each
Continental 10 aircraft at $130 million each,
seems that CO got the bad deal !!!!! think they should renegotiate, but then again can you trust any figures published by BOEING or AIRBUS when it come to prices paid !!
I have to agree with EPS- Aviation. The Boeing 7E7 isn´t a direct competitor to the Airbus A380, not by a long shot.
Lets wait until the Paris Airshow in June, am sure that Airbus will have something up their sleves as they usualy do.
It may not be an aircraft competitor, but a competitor in how Boeing and Airbus think how the industry will evolve. Airbus believes that passengers will continue the hub and spoke policy that is very popular whereas Boeing is marketing the 7E7 as a non-stop medium-haul jet to make more direct flights. The comparison is better to see who's idea of the aviation future is more accurate.
