Does somebody know where I can buy a new scanner at an interesting price? I know it's still forbidden to use it in Belgium, but maybe there's a shop in Holland, close to the Belgian border.

Hello Nik,
You can buy scanners at the Luchtvaart Hobby Shop (http://www.lhshop.nl) near Schiphol but when looking on the website of the Pilot Shop at Lelystad (http://www.pilotshop.nl) and comparing the prices it seems that they are quite cheaper than the Luchtvaart Hobby Shop. there will probably be more places to buy scanners but that's all I know.
I've been looking to buy one myself in the near future, does somebody knows which one is the best?
Regards,
Kristof

A couple of years ago i bought my scanner in Sluis. It was a small shop located in the center of sluis, who had a good selection of scanners. I cannot remember the name!Beloxi wrote:Thanks for the reply Kristof. I know the Luchtvaart Hobby Shop, but I thought there were maybe shops much closer, in Middelburg or Sluis.

ebay!
I bought mine (a simple Maycom AR-108) on Ebay 2 years ago for 40,00 EUR + 7,00 EUR shipping (from a german).
with the built-in antenna, I might receive airborne aircrafts (over Belgium territory) and Brussels Approach (with noise)
if I would attach an 'external' antenna (simple home-made di-pole), I would additonally receive both Brussels Tower frequencies, brussels ground frequecies, some taxiing & docked aircrafts and also Brussels ATIS information (meteo, runway usage (!) ).
But of course, I don't use in in Belgium. 8)
Oh, and I live near Mechelen. (app. 16 km from brussels airport).

I got my scanner a long time ago in a shop in Breda, possibly the well reputed shop from above, called Jacobs Breda Electronics... I bought alot of stuff there, scanner stuff and cb stuff, very good service, prices back then were very ok, and not far from the center of Breda, pretty easy to find...

not possible to trace, but police isn't stupid, they know spotters do use scanners, and they have the right to search your car, your stuff and your person so there's quite some chance you'll get busted in case of a routine-controlDAT202D wrote:Hi people,
I got a question about this topic. If I buy a scanner and use it in Belgium (only recieving ofcourse 8O ), what would be the chance that they trace the signal? And is it actually possible to trace it?
Why do you people say 'i don't use it in belgium'?
