Answering Themole's question
Themole,
As promised I will give you some statistics calculated by the webserver, first one are statistics calculated for the main-page www.luchtzak.be by 'webalizer', I quote: " Webalizer is a more complex stats program that produces a nice variety of charts and graphs about who has visited your site. This is probably the most popular stats engine available today."

Another example is Awstats:

In November 2004 we had 159.441 visits with an average length of 350 seconds or almost 6 minutes per visit. Compared to 161.937 visits at an average lenght of 354 seconds in October 2004.
I agree that the pageview-counter isn't 100% correct but at least it gives an indication where the website is going. I can't start a competition for having xx unique visitors that spend more than xx minutes on the website. Therefor a 10.000.000th pageview-contest seems logic and popular, note that our most important objective is to keep the forums of high quality (iso high quantity). A 10.000.000th pageview free give-away contest for our members is an appreciation towards all the members and administrators for their contribution in the forums and the latest news-section.
kind regards,
Bart
Sidenote: I didn't show the statistics of our subdomains like our popular http://coppermine.luchtzak.be which are increasing every month so far.

Thanks for the effort and for - finally - publishing some interesting & relevant statistics. It certainly puts the 10.000.000 (and counting) page views in the right perspective.
In my opinion it is not, but opinions differ.luchtzak wrote:I agree that the pageview-counter isn't 100% correct but at least it gives an indication where the website is going.
I just feel that the 3th anniversary of www.luchtzak.be would have been a better opportunity to celebrate, and to organize a big give away party. But again, opinions differ.luchtzak wrote: I can't start a competition for having xx unique visitors that spend more than xx minutes on the website. Re: Answering Themole's question
We are ready to organise a private party with some of our most interesting members (invitation only, everyone brings his food and drinks), just to try to better know you face to facethemole wrote:I just feel that the 3th anniversary of www.luchtzak.be would have been a better opportunity to celebrate, and to organize a big give away party.

Maybe, maybe not... But I have contacted several aviation companies if they wanted to participate in the 10.000.000 pageview-event. Not knowing that the 10.000.000th would come that fast and that it was so close to the 3-year anniversarythemole wrote:I just feel that the 3th anniversary of www.luchtzak.be would have been a better opportunity to celebrate, and to organize a big give away party. But what about its twin brother or sister www.luchtzak.com?
By the way, what's with this 'member of the year' thing? How is it calculated? It seems you are about to win your own contest? The word 'pointless' comes to mind.

I never knew that there was a www.luchtzak.com ...
Yes, but it points to the same serversab319 wrote:I never knew that there was a www.luchtzak.com ...
Indeed it's rather pointless, it came with an update I made on the PHP-Nuke system, maybe I should remove the link to it.demol wrote:By the way, what's with this 'member of the year' thing? How is it calculated? It seems you are about to win your own contest? The word 'pointless' comes to mind.

I sense some irritation on my expense in that remark. Did I spoil your nice ranking in the 'member of the year' awards? Because in that case, I can't feel sorry for you, simply because I don't.
I am one of the few members around here who dares to question a few things about this website or its content. Maybe you are used to ignore some facts or even the truth, but I don't. What I said earlier about the 'member of the year' contest, the statistics and even www.luchtzak.com are relevant questions or remarks. If it doesn't interest you, fine! In that case, ignore this topic and do what you do best and get behind your camera. If you have no sensible arguments to discuss, I suggest you have a nice and animated discussion with your camera, but not with me.
Unlike you, I always try to use sensible arguments in the discussions I am involved in. I sadly have to conclude that the quality of the feedback is rather on the poor side. Your reply is a perfect example of what I mean. I have a reputation to say whatever is on my mind, mostly stuff that is being left unsaid, simply because people do not dare to say it out loud. But hey, somebody has to take the heath or the blame, and I am more than willing to do so whenever I feel it is necessary.
So am I amused? No. Are you? Probably not. Good, at least something that we have in common.
Re: Answering Themole's question
lol And since I was going to win the contest, Bart decided to deleted more than 60000 of my points several months agothemole wrote: By the way, what's with this 'member of the year' thing? How is it calculated? It seems you are about to win your own contest? The word 'pointless' comes to mind.
But to be honest, I don't care.... It's quality and not quantity that counts.

What do you mean by that ?Comet wrote: If that is the case then Member of the Year was obviously a fix and a con anyway.
Bart didn't do it on prupose but I one day saw that I lost more than 60000 points that's all.
But since I don't care about it, I don't want to start a discussion about that.
The sentence I wrote above just had to be a "joke".
