Which is your favourite Rago? Is it Bush, or did you just say Bush was one that you liked? After Sloeber my favourite is Rochefort 10, and others in no order are - Chimay (all), Rochefort 8 and Rochefort 6, Gulden Draak, Duvel, Hapkin, Piraat, Bush (Amber and Noel), Maes, Primus, Jupiler, Mater, Brugs, Ename (all), Ciney (Blond), Tongerlo Tripel, Palm, Kwak, Judas, Westmalle Dubbel, De Koninck, Leffe Brune, Leffe Radieuse, Cantillon, Mort Subite, De Troch (strawberry is very nice), Timmermans (all) and others I cannot think of just now.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

It only takes 20 minutes to drink a Bush? Don't believe in savouring your beer do you Rago  ?

I had a Corsendonk Agnus (the golden one) on Saturday night, and it took 45-50 minutes to finish it.

My record still stands at 90 minutes with Sloeber, 25th December 2003. Second is Duvel with 60 minutes, then Rochefort 10 at 55 minutes.

Rochefort is too good to rush and Sloeber is too damned rare to rush  :drink:

I'm with Rago on this, and I also like to drink my beer in about 20 minutes!

I still savour it though, I don't think you need make it last over an hour! That's boring!!!!  :!: :!: :!:

Don't tell me you chill your Rochefort 8O

A dark beer is best served at cellar temperature, not fridge temperature and not room temperature. A golden should always have some chilling and a pilsner should be served as cold as you can get it without freezing it - same goes for a white beer like Hoegaarden.

In Paris a couple of years ago we were in Galeries Lafayette and the philistines had Rochefort 10 in the fridge     You never see that in Bier Tempel!

And some good news for once - the new supermarket has started stocking Westmalle Dubbel, Hoegaarden Grand Cru, Liefmans Kriek, Hoegaarden and Leffe Blond. It's a start at least, hope they get more.

And I don't like "warm" beers either, just "warming" ones

My favourtie beer is Tusker. It is a medium alcohol beer (4.2%ABV) and available in 500ml bottles and 330ml cans. Anyone who's been to Kenya and generally East Africa will definitely know it

However, Belgium is blessed with tasty beers :drink: . I enjoyed Westmalle, Duvel (took me to sleep pretty fast), Hoegaarden etc. I have a belgian beer chart somewhere in my stuff. Must be the country with the highest number of brands per capita :D

Cheers,

Walter.

We call that 'fluitjesbier' (whistle beer), or, in other words, very low alcohol...

But I agree that on the African continent it can be very refreshing!

Walter -I know Tusker. I only had one bottle, but I found it rather hoppy, rather like German beer. Nice though.

On Saturday we had a nice, warming Westmalle Dubbel, my second of the year :drink:

I still don't know which will be the Christmas beer for this year. Last year I had Sloeber whilst VC10 ended up with Mort Subite Gueuze (the very well documented Sloeber disaster which got me to Brussels in March, earlier than I expected, and my first flights with SNBA - my best flight ever!) That was the occasion when I took 90 minutes to drink one glass of Sloeber.

It's called "De Vlasschaard" and is situated in "Stene Dorp", very close to Ostend International Airport...
