We had Rochefort 10 last night, our first since last winter. That is one of the best Belgian beers, and the second strongest at more than 11%. It is well worth tracking down for anyone who hasn't tried it already :drink:

New Budweiser beer will have caffeine

Looking to hold onto young adult drinkers, Anheuser-Busch Cos. next month will roll out a flavored, caffeinated Budweiser beer. ``Be'' is infused with caffeine, guarana and ginseng in the brewing process, the St. Louis-based brewer said Monday. It has a slightly sweet and tart taste. The beer will be packaged in a 10-ounce can that is slimmer than traditional beer cans and will contain 6.6 percent alcohol by volume.

Beurrkkkk!

...and I guess it will also contain the usual ingredients of a Bud, i.e. rice and/or corn instead of malt!!!

These Americans really don't know what the word beer means :evil:

As already said many times before, taste is something personal.

Doesn't it look tasteful?

And together with this:

...it is divine!

The Brewery is a Limited Company juridically distinct from the monastery and yet closely linked to it :

The Brewery belongs to the monastic Community;
because it is established within the monastery grounds, the Brewery adapts its commercial policy to the Community's lived values (limitation growth and particular attention to the quality);
the revenue from the licence-fee is at present devoted to charitable aid and to the upkeep of the monastery site.

I admit that Orval is very handsome in its proper glass :lol: And the cheese is probably very good too, we had some Chimay cheese a few weeks ago, and once we got past the smell of the stuff it was very nice and beautifully creamy. Port Salut is also very good Trappist-style cheese :fork:

But here you will see some truly magnificent brews :lol:

Chimay cheese is indeed wonderful.

However, on first encountering it, my first thought was that it stank like a shitty nappy, but, hold your nose and pop it in your mouth, and it is tryly delectable! :lol: :lol: :lol: :loveit: :loveit: :yummie: :yummie: :yummie:

Just wish it was available here, :( :(

I'm sorry Rago but I can't give you much help with your question.

Dogfish Head Worldwide Stout is an American beer which was sold in the Safeway supermarket chain here in the UK. We had a local Safeway here in Scarborough where I used to get some of those beers from, but it closed down when it was sold to another supermarket chain (Safeway no longer exists) and the supermarket we have here now in its place is a real pool of loose sh*te. There is no Belgian beer on sale at all :evil:

I don't know where you would find it in Belgium. We miss it too :cry:

Have you been to Poland lately? Was it the pilsner type or the "porter" brown?
Comet wrote:17. Dogfish Head (21%!) - 1
That can only be an artifical mix of beer and alcohol. The bacteria that change sugar into alcohol stop working above 13-14°.

No. It was the pilsner.

Eastern European beers are often overlooked but they can be very good. Czech beers are excellent, and Baltika is a pleasant one as well.

Isn't Plzen in Czechia where pilsner beers were born?

I acquired a couple of cases of beer from the Pardubice region earlier this year - very pleasant but much too quickly consumed - don't keep logs of beers drunk - writing goes funny after a while
