RivieraJet is not going to make it happen

Post by A318 »

A while ago I placed an article and picture about RivieraJet that was going to startup a Low Cost transatlantic airline from the US to Europe.
It looked very attractive since they were going to fly Brussels - Fort Lauderdale with 767-300 airplanes.
I just visited http://www.rivierajet.com again but it doesn't look so good anymore.
The beautiful site is gone just a little message stayed behind :(

Sad news. It would have been great to get an lowcost carrier on the transatlantic routes. To bad that they are not going to make it!!

If you can fly Brussels-JFK with Biman for 250 euro in economy and 350 euro in business, I don't think somebody can do much cheapier

There is actually a TransAtlantic Canadian low cost carrier. It is called Zoom airlines. http://www.flyzoom.com They fly from all major canadian cities to London Gatwick and Paris CDG with 767-300ER. I have flown with them this summer and the service is very good. You get 2 meals and an inflight movie at no cost. It cost me 550$CAN YUL-CDG-YUL which is about 350 Euros.

It sounds like a good deal, but that still does not put them in the low cost league.

I think you'll find they go to Glasgow as well - possibly Manchester also.
