to add something more
on the same website of Andries we see the DC-8. It is another airplane I don't like flying in my neighbourhood, day or night. It smells, it is noisy.
And those yakovlevs. Oh yes, Andries, have you heard about the safety record of Yakovlev? Ask the dutch lady who was trapped in her chair for days before being rescued in Vietnam. Or ask the families of spanish UN soldiers who crashed in a Yak. I don't like it. I prefer quieter, safer airplanes.
About your question on your website why SN doesn't use Yak's instead of BAE: good question. Why do the quality western companies not use tupolev, yak, ilyushin? The answer is the same as why you don't drive a Lada. It smells bad (really, fog comes out the airconditioning ) , it consumes too much expensive fuel, in case of break downs it is diffcicult to get spareparts (of good quality) , radius is to small, just give it a name.

Not really Bottie, slept well.
And yes, thank you for the correction, Eva is of Evergreen and not the opposite way around as I mistyped. Evergreen reminds me a lot about Maersk, also with shipping lines, own vessels, own airline. They both have their own manufacturing divisions, making containers, large steel structures, vessels. Evergreen even has its own hotels.

regi wrote: And are you saying that if 707 is not handled on a regular base, that there are no 707 on the tarmac?
There ar no 707's at EBOS ! The last 707 here was a 707 that made an emergency landing, so it was not a scheduled flight !
regi wrote: And about old or new cargo planes: is it not federal express which orders new planes for cargo? I hope you are aware that new cargo planes are being build such as 747 and even A380 in the future?
You don't actually believe (with a healthy mind) that a company like FedEx would come to EBOS, not even to mention using the A380 ...
All I can say to that is "keep on dreaming ..."
regi wrote:Can somebody explain why suddenly the MD-11's of DHL turn out to be a undesired airplane, despite its engines are far more modern that the 15 year older 747's of the first generation?
1) DHL doesn't own MD-11's, they simply let other airlines operate flights for them using MD-11 equipement.

2) That is a VERY good question ! Why are those MD-11's suddenly to loud ? Like I said, within some years, people will think that even a Cessna is to noisy ! Just the "onverdraagzaamheid" (don't know the english word) of the people living in our modern society !
regi wrote:My only point was: let's go for the best. Let us not get trapped by cheap cheap cheap. Let us go for quality.
You can not go for quality and ignore economy in the modern society. EVRYTHING (well, almost 99%) today is about money ! You can't expect airline's to use brandnew airliners only. The would go into Chapter 11 (=bankrupty protection) before you could pronounce the word "airplane" ...

Thanks !

And isn't it Andries who cursed me some messages above that Eva doesn't use Ostend?
So what is that picture doing on his website?
Ass already cleared out, Eva Air is not the same as Evergreen International Airlines. 2 things they have in common is that they both fly cargo and both belong to the Evergreen Group.

P.S. No offence to you Regi, I just don't want people reading uncorrect info on this website and then start to believe it. It's nothing personal.

For your information : Those YAK-flights carried Ukrainian football players and their supporters. This means that these are very exceptional flights !!! The chance of seeing those again at Ostend is rather small ! We can't tell them "If you don't have a Boeing or Airbus, then stay at home !" if you understand what I mean ...

Anyone who knows me would know that that is a question that is not to be taken seriously. That's just a way to express that I like the way those planes look. I do know that it would not be good for SN to use Yak's !

Andries wrote:Why are those MD-11's suddenly too loud?
As correctly stated, DHL does not (yet) own MD-11s, but intends to acquire several of them on the second-hand market.

The former limit for night flights at BRU was a quota count of 12. The MD-11 has a quota count of 11 (nothing to do with its name) and is thus acceptable for BRU at night, or rather WAS acceptable. In the meantime, the government suggested a maximum quota count of 8...
