Rel - London, UK

Post by CN-RAM »

Hello all

I've been a member since saturday 25/sep and i've only just found this part of the forum, but i have posted a few other postings elsewhere in luchtzak.

my name is rel and i was born and live in london. i'm a student in west london studying geography. i wasn't an aviation enthusiast until my mate took me to farnborough, the rest as they say is history

i now have ambitions to be a pilot, an astronaut, air traffic controller, ceo of baa, or british airways, a jet pilot, a helicopter pilot......whatever u name it, this aviation field is too diverse.

my user name is cn-ram, obviously cn for morocco and ram is royal air maroc, but i think i should have called myself something related to bmi as they are my favourite airline and i absolutely hate ba. hate 'em.

i do plan to take an active part in discussions but my knowledge on aviation is quite poor at the moment - i get frustrated reading flight international!

anyone who asks - i'm a qpr fan and i hate chelsea, arsenal and man utd in that order.

also, my signature at the bottom is the lyrics to a song used by airbus in one of their adverts for the a340-600

if anyone wants to chat or ask me anything feel free to do so

bests

rel

Welcome to Luchtzak for the second time Rel. I think London is a superb city, but I haven't been down there this year.

I would love to go to Farnborough (or any airshow of that type) but that is something I can only dream about at the moment. Maybe one day I will go there.

thanks for the welcomes - i feel like a star!!

as regards the farnborough airshow - there was no concorde! shame really as the french had it in 2003. eurofighter was supposed to be the main attraction but the gripen looked slicker. boy do those jets make noise!

comet - london's ok, scarborough has a nice beachfront and excellent fish and chips! there's always things to do here, but i prefer barcelona myself - sun, sea, sand and everything. brussels and amsterdam are clean, paris is overated but it's still good. london seems grimy compared to a lot of other european cities - the beauty of london is that you'll never get bored here if you have friends as there's always something to do or someone to see.

the next big airshow is paris i think next june or july so you should plan ahead for that, i'm thinking of going, at least i can brush up on my gcse french!

comment ca va monsieur? ca va bien merci
comment t'appelle tu?
voila
allez les bleues
etc etc

help me with my french if u can please! or are most people here flemish speakers?

sn26567 - regarding beckham

i believe him and sven to be secret lovers - no other manager on earth would persist with such a terrible midfielder. overated and boring.

my heart sank when england were knocked out, but they deserved it because they play so defensively and at the same time bad.

but where were the belgians?! the last time i saw the belgians was in 1994 usa beating morocco 1-0 with the excellent prudhomme in goal - where is h now?

Elimininated by the Dutch in the preliminary games. Butv they could have fared much better than the Dutch in the Euro 2004... :P

Michel Preud'homme is now a director of Standard Liège.

CN-RAM - I agree with what you say about Beckham, when other teams fielded 11 men in Euro 2004, England only had 10. I am a Belgium supporter myself though.

I cannot agree about Scarborough though. I did used to be nice, until the hotels were changed to DSS hostels and filled with drug addicts and criminal low life. There is the best chippie in Scarborough just along the road from where I live, so I am lucky with that, and we do have excellent Italian restaurants here, but chips you get in Belgium are even better - when in Brussels aim to eat at Friterie Antoine's :fork:
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

yeah right! maybe you should have said england better. the dutch were excellent - van nistelrooy showed his class.

that's nice to know. he was a quality goalie.

as regards scarborough - i remember seeing a lot of juveniles and youngsters who looked like trouble, but otherwise it was a nice stay and the weather was ok. last time i went brussels was last year, i'll keep that place in mind - how would i get there? and if i mention your name wll i get a big discount?! i didn't know belgium for it's chips - only for it's excellent chocolate - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm give me some chocolate!

and regarding paris 2005 - is there a website or something where i can find out any info?

I don't know any sites about Le Bourget Air show but the next one is indeed in June next year. If I don't have too much exams I plan to go there again. It's a nice air show. I just hope that this time the AN225 will be displayed :) BTW if you have very good binoculars you can even spot the CDG traffic from the Air show itself....

help me with my french if u can please! or are most people here flemish speakers?
Most people are dutch speaking people over here but there are several french speaking people as well (me for example ;) )

Greetings
Chris

The dross are easy to recognise here, if they look bad, then they will be. The Friterie Antione is best reached from Schuman railway station, it is in walking distance right down the road from there. And as well as chocolate and chips, beautiful Belgium is known for the best beer in the world :drink: Stella is extremely hard to find in the UK (I'm not talking about that fake muck which is packaged in Stella cans and bottles and brewed in Luton, real Stella is brewed in Leuven, and is a superior product). The best Belgian beer is Sloeber.

That is a very personal and unique opinion. :?

What about Chimay Blue, Tripel Westmalle, Chouffe, Rochefort 10, Triple Karmeliet, Ciney, Brune des Fagnes, Duvel, and many others? :P

There is nothing wrong with Sloeber

Chouffe and Westmalle (both Dubbel and Tripel) are unobtainable in this dump. The biggest joke on the Yorkshire coast, otherwise known as the local "beer shop" boasted to us last week that they would be getting "alot" of new Belgian beers in this week. Their idea of alot? Two!!!!!

I won't be able to visit a proper beer shop until 3rd November.
