Brox999 if you want to use the photos for your fantastic site , you're welcome , just use Fabke's AIRSHOW page as credit

About the plane I can tell the following , it's a Meteor F.8 and belonged to the 33rd Sqn/13th Wing of the Belgian Air Force , the construction number of this plane is 6496 and it's serial is EG162/K5-K , don't have more info about when it arrived at Dinant , ...so let's hope other members can help  :D

What a pity this topic wasn't posted a couple of weeks ago! I was in Dinant last week, and if I'd known about this aircraft I would have tried to get to see it.

Maybe next time I will.

Indeed to bad you couldn't see it  , the problem is that you have to pay an entree fee of about 6 EURO's to see this plane as it's posed on the citadelle , some kind of old castlle

Yeah, but that 6 euro is surely worth it... If not for the plane you get an amzing view over Dinant, and the citadelle itself is pretty nice too...
I think I been there over 10 times already...

EG162 Dinant

Post by Laurent »

Hello,

I have the following history for this aircraft:

Meteor F8 EG162 c/n 6496
13Wing-33Sqn, Brustem (K5-K)
0158 written off for use
270858 OO-ARU (CofA 1195) Cogea Nouvelle SA, Oostende
020361 cancelled as OO-ARU
early60s to Citadel, Dinant /

a few years ago there were some rumours that it would go to Koksijde to become a gate-guard

That's all folks.

Best regards,

Laurent
