Formula 1 circus in Liege Airport

Post by liebensd »

Formula 1 circus in Liege Airport is the title of a news item on the Liege Airport web side. There are a number of photos of famous racing pilots available.
But do someone know the schedules of special aircrafts that will arrive at Liege for the F1?

Dave,

To be honset I don't think much teams will arrive by plane at Leige.
Most likely only the drivers came over by plane but they should already be there just as the cars.

As most of the teams are Europe based they will drive to Francochamps with their trucks and motorhomes.

Yvo

Wow Dave,

I didn't know about that plane. Well in that case let it fly to Leige or MST.

So Bernie Ecclestone owns only a BAe146? I would have thought that this multi-billionaire would have at least a BBJ.

So we may expect something like this http://www.airliners.net/open.file/627805/L/ in SPA !

The EAC 732 was there for the Minardi team I think.
If I'm not mistaken Paul Stoddart has a share in this company.

Thanks a lot for the welcome guys!

Been checking out the site on and off for a while now, and having managed to tie a few things up, felt it was only fair to give something back.

Living out near Liege means I don't get to BRU as often as I'd like, but do try to pop in to LGG when I can. Unfortunately though during the day, there's not usually a lot about, as I'm sure you all know :D

Will post a log from LGG tomorrow evening.

Hi!

As promised, an update of some of todays visitors at Liege, and surprise,
surprise, not a lot more turned up  Still, managed some shots of the ICE 752F and TAY 733F which made up for things!

D-HELB B222
G-ESTA Ce550
G-OLDF LJ45
HB-VKW B125
HB-VND Ce560
N401QS G4
N198ND Ce550
OE-HTJ J328 Tyrolean Jet Service
OY-OLE PA31
SE-IKV PA31

Decided to pay a visit over to Spa during the race which proved quite fruitful. Around 35 logged including the following:-

F-GVIF AS365
G-IWRC EC135
HB-FOS PC12
HB-FOX PC12
N119CS Ce525
N800MG Be200
OY-PIL Ce172
PH-ECD EC120
PH-KGJ EC120

If anyone wants full lists from Spa and Liege, let me know.

Regards,

Chris

Part :offtopic:

In addition to the visitors listed before, Eurocontol and myself noted the following
F-GYPQ TBM700
OE-GNL Lear Jet 60 (Niki Lauda?)
OY-LJJ Lear Jet 45
TF-FIG B757 Icelandair

and the star of the afternoon (at least for me!)

UR-DWB An26 Air Charter

Our visit to Liege was just a quick one after we had been VIP guests at an unusual (for us) aviation event on the Pampa Range ( 10W gunnery and bombing range) near Hasselt. We were invited by "Phantasy in Blue" which is a Dutch initiative to have a flying scale model of every aircraft ever operated by the KLu.

Present were some very impressive scale replicas including some jet aircraft which flew with impressive results, and a number of KLM models including an MD-11 and DC-8 with 2/3 metre wingspans.

To our great surprise 3 of the aircraft carried current PH- registrations as models over 20kg are required to be registered, so for the number grubbers out there:

PH-XMD/K-171 F-84G Thunderchief
PH-XME/N-122 Hawker Hunter
PH-XMG/D-8022 F-104G Starfighter

Once again an aviation event in Belgium which received little publicity outside the radio control fraternity but which was well worth a visit for the truly air-minded.

For (late) info:

- Most drivers / team principals and executives use LGG to reach SPA.
- Most mechanics and other team members arrive via regular flights in BRU.
- Logistics on European GPs are carried out by very very heavy trucks.
