The plane can't depart because of stage II regulations?

The AN124 is fully stage III compliant so this can't be the reason why the plane can't depart.

Maybe off-topic,
but for the record :

Stage x regulations do not apply to military aircraft/flights and relief flights.

No Problem André. You just made me very happy with the wrong date, because I thought I might see the AN124 taking off this afternoon ;)

Anyway, to get back on topic, I heard this evening that the Belgian court won't take any decision before the 31st of August.

This means that we will see the AN124 parked until at least then end of the month.

The Antonov AN-124-100 Ruslan is a CIVIL plane, its has also a CIVIL license, and the pilots of the Antonov Design Bureau are CIVILpilots!!!!!! And its a stage 3 aircraft!!

Its a damn civil plane, so stop with youre millitary stuff!!!

Not all russia planes / russia manufactured planes are millitary planes, we dont live in the coldwar any more you know!!!!

And also millitary has stage aircraft! In Holland, the Il-76 is not allowed to land, doesnt matter if its a civil or millitary aircraft. Only the il-76 of the international red cross or United Nations are allowed to land in holland, between 12.00 hrs lt and 16.00 hrs lt.

With military flights is meant a flight operated by a civil airline for the military of Belgium in this case.
For these planes there are no regulations regarding noice etc.

This is also the reason why you can see 2 IL76's a day at Eindhoven since last week.

Yvo

The 2 IL-76 at eindhoven are flying humanitarian flights for the UN, they fly medicals, or food, so they are allowed to land on eindhoven, there flightnumbers start with UN ( United Nations ), last week ago there was also an il-76 at eindhoven flying for the World Food Program.....also an UN flight.....

the il-76 is only allowed to land on any Dutch airport, when it`s have to make an emergency landing, or when they operate a humanitairy flight.

Of course newspapers aren't exactly reliable sources.
There is a third large commercial An-124 operator with 8 (!!!) aircraft: Polet.

Besides this there are the Libyan Aldawlyh Air with 2 and the Russian military 224th Unit with 7 machines.

Mr. V-Bird,

Like Avro said: "Calm down" !

We're all posting on a discussion-forum.
Don't lower yourself to curse and swear !
Try to "get the point" of a post.
If you read my post again (slowly) you'll discover that I didn't say the An-124 is a military aircraft.

Yvo (AN124) and the other readers did read and interpret it correctly!

@ V-bird: the IL76 flights at Eindhoven have nothing to do with humanitarian operations or the red cross. They fly for the Dutch Army (same flights like in Geilenkirchen and Cologne for the German Army). They also come in under AHC (Azerbaijan Cargo) or AZQ (Silk Way) flight number. The flight number today was AZQ4994. So the flights with IL-76 @ EIN are similar to the An-124 flight @ BRU: a civil plane with civil flight code flying for military authorities.

Picture is taken today (Aug 30) at Beirut.
Credits of the picture are off course for Vatche from Beirut.

euh guys,

could it be that I saw the antonov still standing at the Melsbroek side last Wednesday 22-09-2004?

It certainly was an ant-164 but is the same airplane?
Just wondering how much it cost a day not flying and paying parking fees.

Hi Regi,

The Antonov is still parked at the same spot since mid august.

Oh yes, still at the same spot.

I guess it will become a permanent tourist attraction at BRU...

Would be nice if they turned the plane a bit, that way taking pics of it would be much easier
