Antonov An-124 at BRU

Post by Kapitein »

This evening a An-124 landed around 1735 LT at BRU. The aircraft, UR-82073, arrived from Gostomel (UKKM) and was expected to park at the military apron. It has to pick up some containers for transport.

The problem is, it's not allowed to departed again due to Chapter II noise regulations. So, if the pilot wants ofcourse, the aircraft has now to go to Brucargo where it will stands for maybe a long time.
There are some others reasons also but I can't say anything about it, sorry.

(The next few days I can't keep you informed because I'm not here, so if anybody else can, we would love it.)

Flight: ADB210F
Aircraft: An-124
Reg: UR-82073
Origin: UKKM, Gostomel.

Uhm,
The plane can't depart because of stage II regulations?

The AN124 is fully stage III compliant so this can't be the reason why the plane can't depart.

Maybe it had to do with runway length and the bad weather conditions around BRU this evening.

Hi Yvo,

Indeed Yvo, I was thinking the same before you posted your reply. And my thoughts are confirmed as I found the following on the Aerospace Technology website :
... The engine nacelles have been fitted conforming to the noise level requirements of ICAO standard, Appendix 16, Chapter 3.

The Chapter II is the thing they give as a reason. But that's not the main thing, believe me.

Last week there was also a An-124 in BRU and they had no problems.

Just talked (08u30) to my college at work, the An-124 still standing at the military apron.

Would the plane be impounded for non-payment of some invoices somewhere in the world?

That is certainly an interesting story to follow. I hope you people working at the airport will keep us updated on that.

The An124 is the top of my "wants" list for photos! I have the Antonov Design Bureau one on video, but I have never been lucky enough to get a photo of one. It is a regular in MAN, but unfortunately was not there when I was spotting in June. I am hoping to be lucky in September.

If one is in BRU that would be great, I would especially like to see one take off or land because I've only seen them parked or with their noses open. Does anyone know if there will be any visiting BRU in September (early September, but 6th and 16th are okay!)
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

Because there is apparently another problem than just choosing the runway ;)

Just read on a Russian forum that the AN124 is impounded in Belgium.
This because of anpaid bills by the Ukranian governement.
So lets hope this will be solve soon because as far as I know the AN124 isn't own by the governement but by ADB/Air Foyle.

I was already afraid that this was the reason that the AN124 wasn't allowed to depart because the company wich is after the money already tried to impound ADSB machines in the Netherlands several times. That's why the Netherlands is/was a no go zone for ADB.

Let's hope ADB isn't going to make Belgium also a no go zone for Civil airports just as they did in the Netherlands. For the moment I wouldn't be surprised when also the regular ADB AN12 doesn't show up this weekend.

Best Regards,
Yvo

Thanks for confirming what I thought, Yvo.

I also hope that a solution will be found soon, although I'm afraid that Ukrainian companies do not have a lot of financial leverage...

It's not the problem that ADB has unpaid bills somewhere but the Governement.
Last year the same happened in Canada. They thought the airline was governement owned but this isn't the case.

So as soon as someone find out how it really is the plane can depart prity quick I think.

Yvo

I've to correct my own info wich I wrote above.

It appears to be the ADB is state owned by using a difficult constructure.

So let's hope people find a solution prity fast.

Like you say Yvo, let's hope that a solution will be found as quickly as possible.

And let's hope that ADB will continue to fly to BRU and to other belgian airports even aftere this incident with the belgian authorities.

Dear,

Plse be better informed i.s.o. talking about stage II and noice limitations.

This has nothing to do with it !!

Plse watch or follow the news on VRT or even VTM to know what they say about the real reasons of being grounded in BRU.

Due to Lithuan unpaid bills, etc...

(landing fees,....)

Apparently the 19 crewmembers locked themselves up in the Antonov. The aircraft is really disturbing other traffic at Melsbroek. When they wanted to move the aircraft, the crew used the brakes to prevent their aircraft be towed away!
