They have something like the kind of lock you would have on your front door, but smaller (with a keyhole bit). The bit where the bolt goes into is there, but the bit which fits in where the keyhole is has been taken out and needs replacing, so we would need a new key and everything. Although we own our flat, the communal areas (such as the entrance hall and mailboxes and fire escapes and outside building) are in the responsibility of an estate agency. If something is wrong or needs fixing we get in touch with the agents and they phone up someone who will come out and fix it. That is what we are waiting for now, they told us it should be next week sometime.

There's nowhere to put a padlock on those doors, strangely enough

My mailbox issue is very relevant to the tee shirtssn26567 wrote:Is this a thread on Luchtzak T-shirts or on Comet's padlocks?
I am just saying, quite truthfully, that if the tee shirt hasn't arrived by the time we go on holiday I would be quite concerned because I would not be able to get to our post before the thieving brats who visit the couple on the ground floor can get their filthy hands on it.
We will have to ask the woman in the flat above if she will take in the tee shirt until we get back from Brugge to the thieves cannot get it. And not having any idea when I can expect the tee shirt arriving doesn't help matters in this case. I am expecting a parcel today, but at least I know that, so I can get to the post before any unwelcome visitors do!

I would have agreed with Louise on that spelling, she has checked her dictionary, and you are right Andre (but "lose" is correct
We both now stand corrected, for now!!

(And the spelling thing relates to the wrong use of a word "looses" instead of "loses", but that's on another thread in the news forum.)
And let us know when you get your tee shirt bigjulie

It's ok, little bit more than 4€ for a 220 gram-packages to New Zealand. 3€ 55 cents to Scarborough! Non prior-sending, I hope they don't send it via boat
