Have you ever flown in any rare or special aircraft?
Have you ever flown in any rare or special aircraft?
Hi. I was wondering if any member has flown in any rare aircraft. For instance, if you flew in the last DC-10 ever built, that would be considered flying in a special aircraft; or if you flew in a home built aircraft, that would be considered flying in a rare aircraft.
Thanks,
Trev

Onward and Upward...
The ever last built B743 is that good enough?
Because I flew it about 50 times

Special colors I flew already 2 :
- The eircell of Ryanair CRL to STD
- ANA Pokemon to NRT from LHR
and missed one for one year I flew on the B744 of LH in 1999 from LAX to FRA the very same that received the special stickers of Hannover one year later.

Re: Have you ever flown in any rare or special aircraft?
Well, I dont know if this counts but I own 2 airplanes a Cessna 182 Wren460 conversion and a Zenair 701 homebuilt airplane. Te wren 460 is an extremely rare super stol airplane capable of flying very very slow and landing in less than 100 meters. The Zenair is a homebuilt airplane that is for 2 people and lands in less than 20 meters ( yes, that short). I take off in less than 10 meters!. I post in the very near future some pictures of them so you will know why my name is flyingcow...you will love to see them. I dont have a digital camera but I am giving one to my wife the 25 th of august(birthday) and then I will take the pictures. Bye!nwa757 wrote:Hi. I don't know if this counts, it's not really an airline,...
A couple of years ago, i flew along with a formation flight of 2 DeHaviland Devon's of the RAF. This was at the fly-in at Keiheuvel (Balen) Belgium.
I don't think there's a lot of Devon's left these days.

As a member of the Commemorative Air Force - B-24/ B-29 Squadron, I'm part of the crew of the world's only flying B-29 Superfortress "FiFi" and the B-24 Liberator "Diamond Lil" from which only two are still flying
Beside those two, I also flew in about 100 different jets, helicopters, warbirds and old timers.

I flew the rare ones from the ryanair fleet:
* EI-CJE: jaguar one
* EI-CJD: EIRCELL one
* EI-CNY: the kilkenny one
* EI-DCL: the 7e7 boeing livery
By the way I was in stansted this morning and I saw the EI-CSA (wich is the oldest of the -800 fleet) was painted in the new ryanair livery ..... maybe ryanair is going to paint his whole fleet in the same livery ???

Me too, but why is that a rare or special aircraft, Kerwin?eskyguide wrote:Well, I flew in SA's Boeing 747-SP ... Kerwin.
Actually I then did not experience any 'special performance', and what then was a 'sp' seems to be a daily routine now.
Did I tell I flew on the last Super Caravelle out of Laos, Vientiane, during the Vietname war. Not a special or rare aircraft at that time, but a special flight indeed.
