Crew resting area info in 747

Post by Captain »

I already know that the 747 has a crew resting area placed at the back of the aircraft. Does anyone happen to have info such as how many beds there are, how big it is... ? Pictures would be great.

Below is the resting area in a 777.

I heard that Boeing is planning on increasing the crew resting area for 747's and could even create a new area with beds in above the lower deck inside the fuselage. This could potentially be available to passengers, but how to access that area is still being decided.

Sabena had them in containers in the cargo hold, I saw them at the last auction day in Hangar 8 at SN technics...
I believe this is an option, not all 'busses have it. Not sure though.

MAS got a lower deck crew rest on their A330-200 (ex-Swissair & Sabena).

They also have a lower deck crew rest rest on their B777-200ER (the new 772 they will receive in Nov will have the crew rest installed above the overhead bins). The stair to the crew rest is located near the first EY galley, door 3R.

As for MAS B747-400, they have 2 crew bunk, 1 at the tail & another 1 is in the upper deck, behing the cockpit.

Sorry, no picture available.

Very interesting info.

I guess the A380 will have ample space for the many crew needed to serve the numerous passengers.

Any info on the A380?

According to their current seat map (at Airbus site), it seems that it will has quite a large crew bunk at the tail (upper deck).

YES on www.airliners.net there is a photo of the Crew rest in the rear. Cant give you a link, but look in the Photo search for 747's and you'll see it eventually. If I get a link I will show it.

In fact I found it. When you go to that home page .... look in the upper left and enter "crew rest" and click and it will show all the photos of Crew Rest Bunks.
