Since we decided to go by train (less polluting
But for those who are interested I will quickly give a few facts on our train trips:
- BRU-CGN with Thalys
- CGN-FRA with ICE
- FRA-CGN with ICE
- CGN-BRU with Thalys
Between CGN and BRU it was a bit dissapointing, not to travel for a very long time at high speed.
We arrived in Frankfurt in the late evening oin Friday or if you prefer very early in the morning on Saturday ( 00:20 ). On saturday morning (7:45) we went as planned to the spotting terrace which is located over T1. The entrance fee is 2 EUR for students and 3 EUR for adults. When we arrived it rained and it was quite cold, but after 1 hour or so the sky cleared up a litlle bit. The terrace is really great. You get to see the planes from very close and you smell a lot of Kerosine :frantic:
Even if it was still not really warm we were kept busy by the planes arriving and departing without any break. It's just fantistic to go spotting and not to be able to tell how many B747's you saw
Satruday was a nice spotting day even if we had a few more rain showers through the day.
On sunday we did exactly the same and the weather was much better than the day before. But we had to stop spotting at 15:30 to catch our train back to BRU via CGN.
To conclude we can say that this weekend was really worth it. We saw a lot of nice planes, we had some great fun and some nice weather despite the few showers.
We decided not to post the entire log in the threat for the simple reason that it would be too long and not interesting. BUT we will post the registrations of all the special planes we saw this weekend.
I'll let Frederic do that
