Pricetag of JSF is growing

Post by Vonsmalhausen »

the costs of the devloppement of the Joint Strike Fighter are growing further
for now the JSF wil cost 7 miljon $ more than planned, costing 45,2 miljon $ a piece 8O
it's mostly because of the devloppement of the STOVL version and new software that makes the price rising :?

in my opinion, it's been a good dicision of the Belgian governement NOT to participate in the program, seeing how costs are getting verry hi ( a part the fact i don't like the plane  )
i'm stil hoping the Belgian gov wil choose the Grippen in some years to replace the F16's ( Rafale is my fav, but to expensive for Belgium i think, same for Eurofighter ).......... if they replace the F16's :?

Belgium took the wrong decision. By cutting on every military budget, they are cutting themselves from all world markets.

If they had participated in the Joint Strike Fighter, they would have had to invest some money, but with probably a nice return on investment later, and a foot in the most modern technologies.

Short sight view, as usual...

Very true, :( the reciprocating investment benefits coming back to the countries participating has by far outweighed the price increases mentioned. In know for a fact that Canadian contracts won to participate have been very significant indeed.

André,

A time ago I had a talk with someone who works in the Dutch aviation industry. He told me thet the return for the Dutch gouvernement is almost nothing. He told that the only thing that happend was that Dutch engineers were able tho go to the USA to work for US companys. So those engineers needed to move to the USA and they will spend their money in the USA.

Greetz,

Dave
