Post by Skystef »

Finally :) Brussels will be linked with the three Baltic States.
From September 7 Estonian will come thrice weekly to EBBR with their B737-500 on day 2,3,4.

Estonian Air opens routes to Brussels and Gothenburg
29.06.2004
Estonian Air opens its 14th regular route on August 30 – Tallinn – Gothenburg and on September 7th its 15th regular route from Tallinn to Brussels. Both routes are served on three weekdays.

According to Erki Urva, Estonian Air president, Brussels has been considered as one of the new destinations for a longer period. “Now, when Estonia has joined the EU, direct flights from Estonian capital to the European capital are essential and we are ready to be flexible to add more frequencies to meet the demand.

There is already intensive traffic between Estonia and Sweden, and the route between Tallinn and the important Swedish business-, fair and culture centre will be opened to take the advantage of the growth potential of the Swedish market.

Tickets can be booked and purchased as of July 1st. The flights from Tallinn to Gothenburg are on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday; departure from Tallinn is at 14:50 and from Gothenburg at 15:55. The flight time is one hour and thirty minutes. The flights to Brussels are on every Tuesday; Wednesday and Thursday, departure from Tallinn at 16:30 hours and from Brussels at 19:00, all times mentioned are local. The flight time is two hours and 45 minutes.

Due to the opening of new routes and decline in passenger numbers on the Tallinn - Kiev route, the Wednesday flight between the capitals of Estonia and the Ukraine will be closed and the route will be served only on Mondays and Fridays.

From early September Estonian Air carries passengers on 15 direct routes between Tallinn and Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Kiev, London (Gatwick), Moscow, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Stockholm and Vilnius. All flights are served with 113-seating Boeing 737-500 aircraft.

That's some good news for Brussels.

Does anyone knows wich handling partner they'll chose:
Aviapartner, BGS or Globeground?

Nice to see an additional carrier at BRU. But I also think that the schedule isn't perfect :?

Let's see if SN decides to codeshare....

I think they will choose aviapartner.
ESTONIAN air has chosen Aviapatner in Munich and Nice so why not in Brussels?

Greetings

To me the schedules look fine. Businesspeople tend to tavel mid-week and usually avoid Mondays and Fridays.

It will be nice to see a new airline in BRU.

Has this new visitor perhaps something to do with the breakup of SAS? Before you could also book a flight with Estonian from Brussels to Tallin. The first part of the trip (Brussels -Stockholm?) was flown by SAS, and the other part by Estonian.
