Getting my PPL

Post by Arkantos »

Hello everybody,

I love planes very much, and lately I have been considering to start my education for PPL. But I would like to now how much is gonna cost me.
Could somebody tell me how much it cost?

Thx for the info,
I am a little shocked by the price. I searched the net for prices and I came to a price of 5000 euros.

I'm still not sure if I'm gonna start now with getting my PPL, or if I'm gonna wait until am 18 and then start with the education to be an airliner pilot. If I get my PPL now, am I gonna have any advantages when I start studying for airliner pilot?

Any experience is good and having a PPL prior to starting your ATPL might just help push you through the theory and it'll definately make you "sail" through the first stages of the actual flying. It serves as a reminder... when you want to hang up because of the theory (or anything else) just think of all those great opportunities and flights you'll be wasting.
Go flying Arkantos!
Many happy landings,

PS 5000 euros is probably a bit optimistic in Belgium, I agree...

Another question

Hey guys,

Thx again for all the info, but I still have one question :)
I read somewhere that when you're busy with training for your ATPL that in the first fase you also get a PPL, is this true?

Hello,

Indeed, first you get your PPL, then CPL, IR MCC, etc.

About the PPL, when you are planning to do ATPL in the future, it's best to do it with BAFA or WWE, OAC etc. But when your not, you can try www.vliegclub-grimbergen.be it's a VZW, much cheaper!

And you should count on € 6500, but it will be much much more if you calculate what you will "give away" when you do a flight :!: Flying is quite expensive!

Good Luck!

hmmm, i could be wrong, but i thought you could also get ur ATPL without first getting a PPL. There are two ways to obtain it: a modular and a non-modular. In the modular you first get a PPL, then whenever yoy want you can continue to a CPL, and then to ATPL. The non-modular goes all the way to ATPL from the start. But again, i could be wrong ...

Killerwhale :

- Modular = When you have your PPL, you can choose a modular course, which is a bid cheaper but takes much longer.

Integrated = Also called "Ab Initio : you start your course without having any experience, so without PPL!

thats what i mean.

But i think it would be really stupid to choose for integrated if you already have a PPL.
