Great article indeed.
Bottom line: Being polite, persistent and proactive is the best way to resolve any travel-related grievance.
Doesn't happen very often though...

Bottom line is : treat people the way you want to be treated.

A "please" and a "thank you" can do miracles

Not everyone is lucky!!!!!

Post by Vinnie-Winnie »

read the article and I was pretty surprised! Some people have quit a bit of luck just by following a simple rule: Respect people!Unfortunately even when you try to be nice some employee have no customer relation skills.
Let me tell my story that happened to me on the 4th of june.

Having finished a three year University degree in England, I had to take everything back home. Living 35 miles away from Heahtrow to the west, I decided to take the plane instead of taking the eurostar which would have involved an exhausting trip with 4 bags through the tube.
Took BA as it was (still is) my preferred airline between the two cities. Knowing I would have to pay excess baggage, I came two hours early. At the check in, the total weight was calculated and it came out to be 75 kilos (instead of the 23 allowed). Having explained my situation, the check in assistant agreed to cut 25 kilos which was reasonable, but to be sure he had to call his manager. Did explain my situation again to the manager who said no way you we won't lift any of the extra kilos. Rules are rules and we have to follow them. i ended up paying £175 extra.
Do U think this was fair? The point is some (and I say some) managers are just t**** In a position of power they will do everything to make your life misery! (As a student paying £175 is just not nice!!!)
Should I boycott BA? No I won't! Just ended up speaking to a stupid manager which doesn't represent the majority of the the BA staff!

Point is made enough moaning ;)

You probably would have had problems and had to pay extra for luggage on the Eurostar:

I often travel with planes and Eurostar between Bru and London and to my surprise Eurostar have recently introduced a rule similar to excess bagage on planes. You cannot carry more than 2 bags on the Eurostar (+ a carry on bag with you in the carriage). A bit stupid if you ask me, but it appears once again Eurostar is trying to emulate the airlines in order to offer a similar product. Personally, I much prefer the plane!!!
