Google AI tells me this about the impact from aviation on global warming (CO² and others):
"...Aviation contributes roughly 2.5% of global human-induced CO2 emissions, but its total climate impact is higher due to non-CO2 effects like nitrogen oxides, soot, and contrails (water vapor trails), which can significantly increase warming, making its overall contribution closer to 5% of global warming. While CO2 is the primary long-term greenhouse gas from burning jet fuel, other emissions, especially contrails and soot, have significant short-term warming effects, particularly in the upper atmosphere, with long-haul flights (over 1,500 km) being the largest source. The industry is working on solutions like sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), improved engine tech, and optimized operations to reduce this growing footprint..."
So be it. We all know that we pollute when we fly. But as from 01st Jan 2026, Amsterdam Schiphol comes with this solution:
Emission-free traffic at Schiphol-Centre
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport aims to reduce the number of vehicles that produce harmful emissions. To achieve this, we will be gradually increasing the number of zero-emission vehicles at Schiphol in the coming years. One of the ways we will achieve this is by introducing a zero-emission (emission-free) zone in the centre of Schiphol from January 2026. From that point, only vans and trucks with zero CO2 emissions will be allowed to drive inside this zone. Examples of zero-emission vehicles are electric vehicles or hydrogen-powered vehicles. This zero-emission zone (ZE zone) does not apply to passenger cars, which will still be able to drive in and out of the zone.

Air France suspends Dubai flights; KLM halts Middle East operations
European carriers cite safety monitoring amid US naval deployments
DUBAI – Air travel between Europe and the Middle East has faced fresh disruption as Air France suspended its Dubai service and KLM halted multiple routes across the region.
The moves come amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty and increased military signalling in the Gulf.
Airlines said safety monitoring remains central as airspace risk assessments evolve in real time.
https://www.travelsdubai.com/24-Jan-202 ... operations
Note that Dubai-Paris CDG it's over 400,000 point-to-point passengers in 2024 (yep with the competition of Emirates). Air France currently operates 3 flights per day (using B777-200ER / B777-300ER aircraft), one more daily frequency than last winter. So, if we have reached this point (suspends flights to Dubai), the situation is indeed worried. Safety first.

Air France resumes flights to Dubai https://www.vanguardngr.com/2026/01/air ... uspension/
Just suggestion. It could be interesting to create a thread with focus only on AF KLM, like they do on Airliners.net. Thus this thread could name AF KLM / CDG / AMS latest news 2026.

Since 2024 this 787 is missing Crown and Royal Dutch Airlines titles, why so? https://www.airliners.net/photo/KLM-Roy ... er/8025223

KLM Asia has dropped "Asia" from its name and is now simply called KLM, without any royal insignia, in order to comply with regulations relating to China and Taiwan.globetrotter wrote: 24 Feb 2026, 06:32 Since 2024 this 787 is missing Crown and Royal Dutch Airlines titles, why so? https://www.airliners.net/photo/KLM-Roy ... er/8025223
