I just reproduced what the Lufthansa executives presented at the capital day - if you go to the Lufthansa page under investor relations you can see all speeches and slides.

But as usual, markets are dynamic and fleet decisions adjust every few years.

SNM, A320, and SFB, A330, are already for a month or longer out due to maintenance. Any idea when they will return?

For the moment also 3 A319 are out for maintenance.

There was never any discussion about the A321XLR under the Lufthansa brand.

I doubt that a Turkish blogger may have first hand information before other media closer to the decision makers.

For sure Lufhansa is mulling over a new A320 fam order, as the current delivery batch ends 2028 and there would be replacement needs behind this date as well, to an extend exceeding the remaining options.

Thus, let's see what really happens.

The original source is actually CH-Aviation. Lufthansa responded directly to their request.

The point ist that the "journalistic" tonality is different from reference to reference.

No plan for the 321XLR is not equal with no plan YET.

There was an interview with the ITA CEO some weeks ago, where it was mentioned that the 321LR performance can be measured earliest after next year.

I doubt that any decision would be taken without these "inhouse" numbers.

If you put all these Infos together, than the 321XLR should have an internal calculation. ( no decision yet means PR says no).

At the same time LH executives mentioned to other channels that the 321 XLR is evaluated, but not for Lufthansa itself, as the target would be secondary brands such as Austrian, Discover, Brussels.

My guess :
- there is a trend towards longer range for narrowbodies and Premium seating there - just see that Eurowings is starting to try such a product between Berlin and Abu Dhabi
- several routes may be targeted for such a cabin product, likely on A321 size
- within this ballpark, several range options are evaluated, to get critical mass or find out the meaningfull specs
- what is attractive may be different from base to base , eg Austrian has Middle East and "-stan" countries within the A321 NEO range, ITA has already the 321LR etc

For sure Lufthansa won't oder the 321XLR type only as a 1 base niche model.

Not "renewal" related, but still concerning the fleet: SFB has been in HK for more than 2 months now. Any hint on its return date?

According to FR24, OO-SFB is now planned to leave HGK tonight for IST as SN9902.

Flightstats.com gives a SN9902 with OO-SFB, STD 05:30, ETA 06:50 in BRU.

Welcome back Bravo.

SFX is on its way to Hong Kong for C-check. It's the best horse in the fleet in terms of reliability and punctuality. Therefore, C-check should be shorter than Bravo's. Normally 3 to 4 weeks if there are no unpleasant surprises.

Strage to see it makes such a huge detour..
Flying over Afghanistan, Pakistan and India would seem to be a more logical route...
Or is the difference just marginal?

SSF flew to Tarbes today for scrap. It was almost 20 years old.

Not surprising, considering all economics.
