Question wasn't Hainan not almost bankrupt?
Not Hainan airlines but the mother holding HNA. This was at the beginning of 2021. It's very complicated bcs there were more than 300 companies under this holding.
The CEO was even arrested. Not sure, bcs I was not following the whole track, but I believe that later in 2022 or 2023 there was a settlement.
Hainan Airlines left the group and belongs now to a conglomerate who has real estate, mining, green energy and aviation it it's portfolio

More less in a month the Winter schedule will start. Here the overview what we can expect:

Eurolines: * As from 04.10 weekly flight to Punta Cana via CDG with the B788.
* As from 23.10 weekly flight to Cancun with the B788
* As from 24.10 direct flight to Punta Cana with the B788

SN: long haul max 9 flights a day. Gives 2 planes to maintenance.

Transavia: adding Agadir ex-BRU. 3 Times a week

Flynas: 2 extra flights on Wednesday and Sunday to Jeddah. This makes 5 weekly flights.

TUI: * new weekly flight as from 20th December to Salen
* new 2 weekly flights to Innsbruck as from 19 December.

Smartwings: starting Prague with 12 flights a week as from 26th October with the A220-300

Vueling: increasing flights to Barcelona (26 weekly flights) and Alicante (10 flights a week)

Air Baltic: from 8th till 27th of January, decreasing of flights from Riga from 10 to 8 weekly flights.
From Tallin they will increase from 4 to 5 weekly flights

ANA: increasing to 3 weekly flights to Tokyo.

Etihad: using bigger capacity with the B77W and B 78X

Hainan: new flight to Chongqing as from 22.11. 3 Weekly flights with the B789

Easyjet: new flight to Bordeaux

PLAY will leave BRU as it changed their strategy and fly more to sunny destinations.

Nothing spectacular besides the 4th destination of Hainan.

I'm not sure if this is the correct topic for this, so feel free to direct me to the correct one if it isn't.

Some people may be familiar with VP-CKQ, the private Airbus A330-200 that has been parked at Brussels since the 21st of July 2023, much of that time spent at the Sabena Engineering Hangar 117 (Brucargo).

This airframe will unfortunately meet the same fate as HB-JJE did back in July 2024. VP-CKQ is set to be scrapped, likely within the next couple of months.

While the aircraft is a little over 13 years old, she reportedly only has around 400 flight hours (cannot confirm this 100%) on her record, due to it being a privately owned aircraft that spends most of it's time parked.

Work on the dismantling of VP-CKQ has started inside Hangar 117 of Sabena Engineering.

The aircraft is being stripped of all it's useable parts, before the remaning airframe will be cut up.

1 African long haul flight canceled every day this last week, today, tomorrow...Finally is it a problem with the aircraft or no passengers ?

This week 2 AF flights to Africa were canceled.

Douala (28Oct25) : AF 948 was planned but removed from the flight scheduled and thus canceled why ?

Theory, AF is phasing out its A330-200 (6 are now flying), another one left the fleet this week. They have only 17 B777-200ERs including one parked. They have 10 B787-9s some of them are now deployed to Africa and others routes see the B777-200ER like Libreville. However the fleet transition (retirement and adding of new aircraft) can be disturbed, if you have aircraft out of service and not enough aircraft in spare

The problem is the same for all airlines even if you have aircraft in spare or you have a big fleet. If troubles during a period when you have "lots of" planes parked and it's not possible to operate normally. AF is currently leasing several aircraft from ASL France and Amelia (France) its medium haul network.

Why do they phase out there A330 200 when you know it's difficult to get new deliveries?
They still can fly with them some time?!

New aircraft induction and fleet retirements are typically planned years in advance. Air France certainly has contracts in place with binding dates on when the A330s need to be delivered to their new owner(s).
Crew training, hiring, upgrades,etc. are also planned around the contracted exit from the fleet.
(also Air France's issue is not deliveries, it's grounded aircraft that should be active)

AF has secured excellent delivery slots for their A350s.

Most of the A330s being currently phased out were due to be C or D-checked hence the logical retirement decision.

As for the 777 fleet, at the moment they have too many 777 type rated crew (some of them were sent to KL this summer). Clearly the future workhorses will be the A350s.
