Of course, it's obvious and safety first! This does not take away from the fact that last winter and May/June saw daily cancellation...technical problems, network problems, scheduling problems...in short : problems for the passenger and I have drawn my own conclusions a long time ago! I regret but long live KLM or long live AF. They cancel...but they have a fleet !Homo Aeroportus wrote: 05 Sep 2025, 18:23I understand that and I also have to have a plan B for my own travel to AFI or when we are shipping goods.nordikcam wrote: 05 Sep 2025, 17:07Booking a long-haul flight is completely risky at SN. That is 3 out of 11.

But Safety First and if a landing gear needs to be replaced, there is no messing around with that. That seems to be the reason why both Golf and Hotel are out. I supposed that Charlie had to be taken out for one day and that Mx could not be deferred.

Air France serves New York JFK up to 7 times a day. AF02 (8h30), AF04 (10h30), AF06 (13h30), AF08 (16h30), AF010 (18h30), AF12 (20h30) and since this summer AF14 departs at 21h05 (but not every day)
Delta operates almost 15 flights a day to Paris CDG.
In the peak period you can have up to 3 flights a day btw Paris Cdg and Nairobi (2 Kenya Airways + 1 AF). If your flight to Madagascar with AF which leaves CDG in the morning is canceled you will be booked the Kenya Airways evening flight from CDG to Nairobi (operated during the peak period). Then you will fly from NBO to TNR. Or probably you will fly from Paris CDG with Air Mauritius via MRU or Air Austral via La Reunion. AF has code share agreements with these 2 airlines
China Eastern 2 flights a day to Shanghai.
Aeromexico 2 flights a day to Mexico.
Saudia 3 flights a day to Paris Cdg : 2x Jeddah and 1x Ryiadh with AF which resumed flights to Saudi Arabia this year.
And some SkYteam airlines are missing at Pars Cdg : Air Europa ended flights to Paris Cdg late 2010s, Garuda Indonesia, Aerolineas Argentina and China Airlines don't serve Paris Cdg
I can continue like that till tomorrow...
You can't compare the size of Brussels Airport and Brussels Airlines with Paris Cdg and Air France due to the market size. Over 2 000 pax fly every day between Paris Cdg and New York (point to point), then you have to add connecting pax from France, Europe, Africa and Asia. Huge capacities, easy to put pax on others flights, if a flight is canceled.
For you info, AF32 CDG Atlanta was canceled today and no sometimes when Delta and AF flights to USA are full (yes it happen during peak periods due to the overbookings, you have just to see people in standby during the boarding), people fly the following day.

I do not compare. As a frequent passenger ( America and Africa ), I will look for the service that is “safest” for me and unfortunately it is neither BRU nor SN that can offer it to me! I regret it and I can easily find this "security" elsewhere!rwandan-flyer wrote: 05 Sep 2025, 21:25AF serves some long haul destinations 2,3,4 times a day and they can rely on their SkyTeam partners whom most of them provides huge capacities to CDGnordikcam wrote: 05 Sep 2025, 18:30Of course, it's obvious and safety first! Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
And i tell you that Air France cancels also some flights. This summer they have canceled some flights to USA, Abidjan and Tel Aviv to name some destinations. Some flights were operated the following day often with a new flight number (you can see on FlightRadar some long haul flights with 4 digits iso 3 digits or with the letter A the end), because they didn't have aircraft available right now.
An example, 5 days ago with an Air France flight from CDG and Abidjan, using 4 digits flight number 4140 (iso AF 702 and 704), leaving CDG in the morning, while the 2 daily AF flights from CDG to Abidjan are operated in the afternoon : https://www.flightaware.com/live/flight/AFR4140
AF990A iso AF990 for CDG Johannesburg 2 months ago with a flight departing the following day in the morning from CDG instead of in the late evening https://fr.flightaware.com/live/flight/AFR990A

Golf is (again) announced back in business on FR24.
She is due to run SN379 DLA-NSI on 11SEP. Let's hope this one materializes.
Her last flight was on 12AUG landing from IAD.

I can now say that OO-SFH will not be finished for at least a few days still.Tim Verheyden wrote: 04 Sep 2025, 19:17In the meantime, OO-SFH arrived at Sabena Engineering on 03SEP for both MLG and NLG replacement. She is now planned to operate SN299 to ABJ this Saturday 06SEP.
Must have been something serious to keep her grounded since 12AUG.
H.A.
Afterwards it should be OO-SFJ's turn.
The NLG replacement has been completed (or at the very least nearly), but the new MLG installation has not started yet. Sabena Engineering has to wait for additional parts, as inspections have revealed corrosion on more parts/areas in both MLG bays.
This was kind of to be expected, as OO-SFH is an ex-Cathay Pacific bird, and her 14+ year run based at an airport located in a salty environment probably didn't do her much good in the long run.
I'll try to have more updates on the progress as time passes.

OO-SFH will not be done this week. Some of the MLG components will be delivered on Sunday at the earliest, and istallation of the MLG assembly itself will take at least two or three days if I had to estimate.
I was also wrong about the NLG. The main assembly has been installed, but the actuator has not. I'm not confident in saying what exactly is wrong with this component, but it is likely that a new actuator has to be ordered as well.
In the meantime, OO-SFJ, which was originally scheduled to come to Sabena Engineering for NLG and MLG replacement as well, will most likely not be going there due to these delays. So this one will likely be sent to a different MRO location.
As for OO-SFG, apparently the NLG has mostly been installed by Brussels Airlines themselves, but the work is reportedly not completely finished.
Note: OO-SFG only needed an NLG replacement, and no MLG replacement.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
They canceled one more time OO-SFG on Abidjan today and reschedule it tomorrow on the same destination! It's a joke!! Poor passengers ! After canceling New York or Wasington every day this week ...Abidjan today! I understand that they have to repair a plane but why put it on a planning if not repaired...!!Summer is not finished but it's wintertime for Long Haul fleet !
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
Good opportunity for Air Côte d'Ivoire to schedule Abidjan-Brussels in place of Abidjan-Paris!
They have a new 339! It's a pity with some SN A330 despite they are not yet so old.

Thanks Atlantis.
Even from as far away as Lusaka it is pleasant news to read that she is back in business.
I can only try to imagine the frustration for Mx, Ops, Planning, due to these many cold starts because of yet another last minute snag.
Fingers crossed this is for good now.
