Brussels Airlines in 2025

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
You can't compare of course, but anyway interesting. KLM this week cancelled 3 long haul flights per day. Last Sunday they cancelled even 5 long haul.
3 cancelled long haul flights costs them 2 million Euro per day.
The cancellations at KLM is 3 times higher then with AF and 5 times higher then with LH.
But as said, you can't compare but SN is not the only one who is suffering

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
Not exactly for this topic, but next year the 12th A330 will enter the SN fleet.
As we know from the new environmental permit, also the noise restrictions will be harder. There is from several corners the question to spread the long haul more over the day.
With a 12th and in 2027 a 13 A330 in the fleet, would it be possible for SN to organize a second long haul wave in the afternoon? On this way also the extra flights of UA and AC can be in later and not everything in the morning.
Just a thought

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
This was lately one a wish of the COO to give more buffer within the maintenance department, but it also create complexity in the network mainly due to connection. Not sure of it will materialise yet but future could be, futur will tell us.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
Indeed, it's not something which you can set up in a year. Your feeder flights needs to be differently organized, your own connection flights to the European flights, your partner flights, etc. Also the fact that people and business wants to arrive in the morning, etc.crew1990 wrote: 01 Jun 2025, 13:54 This was lately one a wish of the COO to give more buffer within the maintenance department, but it also create complexity in the network mainly due to connection. Something to keep an eye on in the future. I'm indeed also curious of the new COO of SN who has experience in the field.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
The current fleet is flying away between 10:30 and 12:00 to its destination and arrives there in the evening, flying back and arriving into BRU in the morning. Thus relaying as well on the morning inbound-outbound wave.
This wave could be ideal for the TATL flights flying in the evening from the US coast and matches transfers to the 10:30 flights towards New York , Chicago etc.
A pure second wave could be hard to organize, but maybe one can strech the current wave if some destiantion won't be served as triangle anymore. On the other hand, leisure towards the Caribbean could start around 15.00-16.00 hours and arive its destination in the evening loca time, flying back as well and returning around mid-day. If flight scheuldes are not squeezed, one could have aircraft switching between the waves and allowing thus more maintenance time or a streched planning during the day.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
Since yesterday, there are 9 SN long-haul flights a day, with the help of Air Europa
I assume that once OO-SFE is back from painting and OO-SFD has be repaired (what exactly is wrong, it seems it is/was quite serious), EC-NBM will go and SN can upscale to 10 flights/day (?)
In the current schedules I see that Dakar is only once a terminator flight (on Sunday), i.e. without another tag to another destination, so assuming that this will be raised. I also see Abidjan already once as terminator flight (on Saturday), maybe also here there might be changes ... Finally I also see that Bujumbura is back to 2 flights/week.
Washington is already at 5/w, so guess that will not change anymore (also last summer it was 5/w).
Cheers,
Danny

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
A good new, when you see that Air France (New York (https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/af2), Los Angeles (https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/af20) ,...) and KLM ( on 5 Jun25, 6 long haul flights canceled in one day https://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtop ... #p24771105) are making some cancellations since few weeks (more than usual). Some days several flights in a day.
Ok they serve some destinations with several flights a day, however it's hundreds pax stranded and everyone is suffering in airline industry (not only Brussels Airlines)

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
OO-SFF will be flying us to Rwanda next week.
Still SQ-cabin or SN-cabin?
Anyhow, seats changed from rows 49A/C and 50A/C tot 22A/C and 23 A/C.

It will bring you from A to B, but the Lufthansa cabin is the most outdated long haul product I've flown in the past few years.Conti764 wrote: 01 Jul 2025, 09:30 Thanks. Plane has changed to OO-SFJ, so it's the (old?) LH cabin... Still OK, I guess?
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
Thanks! As long as it has a proper IFE and some comfortable seats, I'm fine. My last long haul experience is from 20 years ago on Continental. Since then only touristbus flights on 737's, A320's and the occasional 757 and even once the infamous OO'(s)TUC from TUI.
Guess I'll be easily satisfied. I can't find any Y-cabin pictures to compare with modern day SN cabin.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
The economy section is has good if not better than the SN configuration.Conti764 wrote: 01 Jul 2025, 14:36Thanks! As long as it has a proper IFE and some comfortable seats, I'm fine.
