Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
What are the noise regulations exactly, in a nutshell?
Only noisy aircraft are not allowed during certain hours? Does this mean A350s or I guess B787s could operate at 3 or 4 AM?

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
OK I Google/Gemini'd this and it turns out there is a noise curfew 11 PM-6 AM with the shortest runway closed 11 PM-5 AM. Apparently noise chapter 4 aircraft can be scheduled during the curfew. Not sure there would be much customers for widebody red-eye arrivals and departures at BRU to being with.BrightCedars wrote: 17 Jun 2025, 14:27 What are the noise regulations exactly, in a nutshell?

Of course SN could also wish to be able to operate under similar curfew conditions at other airports around the world other than Brussels.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Not directly related to renewal, but...
SN continues keeping an A333 as spare. But EC-NBM no longer available and OO-SFD still @WOE, so 1 l/h canceled every day; today it is SN501.

They never had a spare 330!
10 aircraft and 9 flights doesn’t mean there’s a spare, this has been explained ad nauseam in this topic.
Do you really think an airline would cancel flights whilst they have a, fully serviceable, aircraft sitting idle on the tarmac?

Do you know, for a fact, if the aircraft is fully serviceable? A KLM 330 turned back whilst over the Atlantic, a couple of days ago, because a, minor, deferred defect needed to be cleared before midnight.

Just take a look at these beautiful fictional images from MFS…
It’s nice to dream a little, though we have to keep our feet on the ground.

This summer I guess SN will only use 10 long haul aircrafts with OO-SFD out ...correct ?convair wrote: 23 Jun 2025, 15:58 Not directly related to renewal, but...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Should be back en of July
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Wow, that's really long. Like almost 2 months out of service.
Also SNL is long out. First incident at BRU and from there to maintenance. Around the same time.
This together with all the national strikes and it's just eating all the profit.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Any news on what exact date SFD will come back? End of July is next week, so curious whether they will uplift number of flights in August to 10/day or not (now it is stable since weeks at 9/day) ...
Why is it taking so long: very serious damage or missing piece(s) for replacement that are difficult to get, or ...
Another question: In 2027 they will start refurbishing the long haul fleet. Some questions: 1) will that start early 2027; 2) how much time would a refurbishment take; 3) where would that be done and 4) how would it look like?
Cheers,
Danny

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
As convair noticed somewhere else on this forum, EAF has written in the repository 4 new A359 for SN.
https://sites.google.com/view/europeanairlinefleets/bel
Any confirmation on this rumour or is there something more concrete in the books? I see that in the LH list, there are still many A359 to be delivered, also stating that they are for the LHG (so they might come from there?)
A related question: is the A359 better regarding cargo as compared to the B789, or is it similar?

And what exactly does ENTFL mean?
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I can't see it on their page, did it disappear ?DannyVDB wrote: 23 Jul 2025, 07:31 As convair noticed somewhere else on this forum, EAF has written in the repository 4 new A359 for SN.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Hi,
I can confirm it was there this morning (while yesterday it certainly was not yet the case), and apparently has since been removed. 4 A350-900, between 2027 and 2029, no MSN indicated or registration indicated. There has been a lot of speculation about the fate of 4 ex-PR birds (and corresponding cabin) flying for LH, which they obtained second hand. If this proves not to be a mistake, the short timeline could indicate it is about these 4 frames, (avg. 7 years old), although they were always rumoured for Discover as they are flying destinations much further than SN and they could use them very well.
Another less noticeable change on that page: both A330 frames coming from LH in 2026 and 2027 have lost the registration/age. Both frames were previously indicated to be some of the younger ones (avg 13 years old), with the five remaining (including older ones) going to Discover. Now the frame allocation seems to be open again.
I have no internal information (I am not an insider), but since EAF is generally right (certainly not flawless!!), it would seem something is moving. For example, Austrian seems to have been allocated 6 more A320Neo and 3A321Neo.
Best regards,

Indeed it disappeared again ...
ENTFL = Enter Fleet
We were happy, "back with our feet on the ground" ... Although we also say: "where there is smoke, there is also fire"
Cheers and keep on dreaming.
