Had a little chat with an Asiana captain. He stated that, as a result of the recent takeover, their commercial name will change to Air Incheon as from July 1st. He wasn't clear about how the rebranding would look like. Considering that Asiana has had very few AOGs at BRU he stated that their operations only send their most reliable aircraft to BRU. Places like ANC have way more AOGs on their old 747s. BRU remains important for Asiana, partly due to their ongoing contract with ASML semiconductors (near Eindhoven).

It seems Virgin Atlantic has stopped its LHR-BRU cargo flights? Anybody knows more?

Qatar, Emirates, Aerologic/Lufthansa (and last week also Atlas Air) all operate regular flights from BRU to ORD. It's remarkable to see multiple carriers on this one-directional route. What is driving the demand on this route? Assumingly pharma. Assumingly from UCB or Abbott (which happens to have a major warehouse at Brucargo).

Then Belgium economy is strong ( Belgium was the first industrial nation on the Continent and second in the world https://www.brusselstimes.com/46484/how ... identity-2) but the country is also well served by Rail, Ports, Roads or inland waterways. It means that you can reach several points in Europe quite quickly.

Rwandan-flyer, thanks for pointing out the large industrial base in the wider Chicago region. However, as these ORD flights are mostly/often one-directional, i.e. from BRU to ORD only, this would indicate that this route is driven by large flows of Belgian/European exports into the US. The biggest export category from Belgium in general and to the USA in particular is by far... pharmaceuticals.

On 12AUG Atlas Air is making another roundtrip ORD-BRU-ORD.

TCR will be sold. TCR is/was a Belgian company who is renting, repairing and maintaining all kind of tools for aviation. This goes from stairs, baggage trolleys, push backs, etc. The owner, the British 3i, who owns 70% and taking care of the remaining 30% of the other stakeholders, started to prepare the sale.
The current value is a bit more than 1 billion Euro. Very good for a Belgian company.
TCR is active on 250 airports in 25 countries.

Latam Cargo will start a new destination from BRU to São José dos Campos.
The new route will start as from the 2nd October with a weekly flight. As from the start of the Winter schedule it will be expanded to 2 flights a week.

This comes on top of the expansion of 15 extra flights between Europe and Brazil.

Last winter season Virgin Atlantic again operated cargo flights from LHR. Unfortunately no sign of them showing up again for this winter season.

It was a "slotkeeper" for their unused slots at LHR for the TLV flights.
They won't return with those flights to BRU.
