I thought the contract was for 3 years, no?

7 would be a lot unless they stop the lease of some of the A319?

Cheers,
Danny

Someone told me that there might be up to 7 BT-aircraft (A220) flying for SN but it is not clear during the winter or the summer season.
The press release from Lufthansa gives the rough numbers for the whole group:
- 3 years extension
- up to 21 aircraft during summer (for the whole group)
- 5 aircraft in winter (for the whole group)

As an educated guess, i would suppose that once some of the aircraft having engine issues would be back in service, there may be an upside potential for various brands to use capacity up to the contracted aircraft during summer peaks. Swiss has currently 6xA220 and 4xA320 NEO not flying.

And maybe SN may need as an intermediate solution for 1 year additional A223 if new A320NEO need to be allocated somewhere else for whatever reason.

Isn't the A220-300 too big for those secondary regional routes (e.g. Billund, Bristol, Torino, Nurnberg, ...)?

The question is - do you want to serve such routes as a networker or as a P2P offer?

As a networker you need daily flights, but only if there is a critical mass on Africa transfers.

P2P you can offer some connection 2 to 4 times a week catching the local demand and to some extend long haul pax, but rather in the leisure and ethno area where 1-2 days travel adjustments are fine.

Are you sure about this, see it flying currently from EBB to BRU with 45' delay, but nevertheless ... OO-SFD seems stuck though ... (since some time now).

Right, but it came back from EBB a day later than scheduled, under SN1465, i.s.o. SN465. (confirmed on EAF)

Apparently only temporary fixed in Freetown as return seems unpressiorized at 10.000ft.

It's a ferry flight with slow speed and under 3500 m due to major problems not yet solved. It's not tomorrow that SFD will be back in regular service.

OO-SFD almost at the end of her Coast Guard Qualification Flight.

OO-SFD Home Run 29MAY25.png
10.5-hour flight, at 10 000 ft, 250 KIAS.....
A flight the crew will for sure remember. Hope some cold beer ready on arrival ;)

I have been told from local that Airbus had to be consulted before Delta was released for flight. It was a serious gash from a high-loader.

Yes! Congratulation to SN's pilots and engineers for this special flight in exceptional conditions with a flight plan that ensures constant contact with an emergency airport. True air navigation! For enthusiasts, it's well worth an explanation of this low-pressure flight technique.
