Re: Alitalia saved by the Government and reborn as ITA Airways
Do yo think it would be better to change the tittle of the thread or create a new one ? ITA Airways in 2025
ITA Airways will start a new route into Sub-Saharan Africa..... No worry it's not a Brussels Airlines destination (you can breath). It will be Mauritius (seasonal service)
ITA Airways: two flights per week between Rome and Mauritius
While Air Mauritius has given up on launching its bi-weekly connection to Rome, the Italian airline ITA Airways is embarking on the adventure. The latter is continuing its expansion on the long-haul segment. After the Maldives, it is preparing to serve Mauritius from November 7, 2025, from Rome-Fiumicino.

its predecessor Alitalia served MRU few times before the covid. Well i don't know if we can talk about of ''predecessor''
Is ITA Airways resurrecting the Alitalia brand ? New livery seems to suggest so

Re: Alitalia saved by the Government and reborn as ITA Airways
They have to use the brand somehow, to keep the rights on it. This is how trademark protection works, if you don't use it in the registered category for a certain period, it becomes free.
For sure the Alitalia brand has some value - if it is positive nostalgia, national pride or associated with decades of missmanagement, it may be subject of personal opinions.
Nevertheless, ITa as a brand itself is well executed, fresh - compared to it the Alitalia livery looks simply like grandmas living room from the 60s.

Here are the top markets for Luanda in 2024 over 10 000 pax. Point to point market, outside Africa:lumumba wrote: 14 Apr 2025, 15:35 There are rumors here that ITA will start flying the A321in 2026 to Luanda ?!
Lisbon : 340 780 (served by ITA)
Porto : 63 233 (served by ITA)
São Paulo : 32 754 (served by ITA)
Dubaï : 31 762 (served by ITA)
Beirut : 23 434
Shanghai : 17 798
Mumbai : 17 724
London Heathrow : 17 282 (served by ITA)
Paris CDG : 16 915 (served by ITA)
Manilla : 12 457
New Delhi : 10 489 (served by ITA)
Istanbul : 10 079 (served by ITA)
If we put only ITA destinations, there an average of 1 343 pax flying everyday between Luanda and ITA destinations. Of course i doudbt that ITA will able to attract pax on the market btw Luanda and Sao Paulo, Dubai or Delhi. The competition is huge on these 3 markets with Emirates, Qatar, Ethiopian and Turkish Airlines. However depending timetables, ITA will probably able to catch few pax.

Abidjan, Zanzibar and Lagos are in the top of the list for future destinations in Africa. Dakar will probably close, the route is under performing, despite that Dakar has a huge point to point demand with Italy mainly with Rome and Milan. But for example at Paris Cdg not many pax (Air France, Royal Air Maroc, Brussels Airlines are strong). It's like for Iberia and TAP Air Portugal both serving Dakar, the serve primary the point to point demand btw Senegal and those countries with not a huge amount of connecting. https://www.corriere.it/economia/traspo ... 9xlk.shtml

Re: ITA Airways in 2025
To me the light shift towards A359 looks interesting.
Re: ITA Airways in 2025
ITA revealed its plans for 2026-2030. 5 airplanes will be added to the fleet, 4 A350 and 1 A330neo. It will be 1 plane per year.
They will start up routes to Newark, Houston, Singapore. They consider flights to Lagos and Abidjan. Dakar will go out of their schedule due to lack of demand, not profitable a d not popular

I believe Milan is or used to be a very important feeder into the Dakar flights of Brussels Airlines.Atlantis wrote: 08 Jun 2025, 23:04 Dakar will go out of their schedule due to lack of demand, not profitable a d not popular

Re: ITA Airways in 2025
ITA Airways will add its AZ code on all Brussels Airlines West African flights from 01AUG25. They started to their code on the Brussels Nairobi service since this month. Meaning more connecting pax through Brussels Airport

SN would need to fill the rumored A359
Re: ITA Airways in 2025
I just saw the people in charge of the fleet list (EAF) are expecting 4 of them with the first one from 2027.
Re: ITA Airways in 2025
Hi all,
Yes, saw that too
Amazing if that becomes true. I also still expect to see some A321.
But maybe we should further discuss in another topic
Cheers,
Danny
