My educated guess is rather not - but i may not bet that SN could get some 319 from LH, if punctually needed.Duke wrote: ↑21 Jan 2025, 14:48 At least good news that the 40+ B737 Max planes on order by the LH Group seem to be going to Eurowings and not to SN...
But on the other hand, SN will probably not get a lot more new A320neo's than the ones that are scheduled now...
What will happen to the A320's that Eurowings is using now? Will they be transferred to SN?
But let's try to look to the full picture:
- LH ordered 40 B737-Max8 to be delivered from end 2027 to 2032 - assuming everything goes right
- on top there are additional 60 options, interviews from yesterday see the 737-Max 10 as a option to replace A321, if these options would be converted to orders
- according to press releases, the first batch of Max is going to replace at Eurowings the A319 ( currently 31) and older A320 ageing until 2032 ( 5 pieces)
So basically there is no A320 available from these replacement, but there may be some A319. Here as well to consider that these were used on a lot of short trips with many legs per day, thus at 20 years they may have a lot of cycles and scrap value may be the better economical option.
Nevertheless, i would assume that if SN needs some punctual growth and there is a better case than emplying A220 in wet lease, within the overall phase out plan of the A319 there may be some transfers. But as the SN seat configuration is based on 141 seats, the yonger A319 from Lh may be closer for a quick reutilisation, if the onboarding of the A220 would allow there an earlier phase out ( assumption here - what stays at 319 size is going to be replaced by A223, upgauging goes towards 320).
Thus likely a shift of existing A320s to other brands ( now Austrian may be as well in the replacement game as they would need as well something like 20X A320/321 in the next decade) may come once some options either on B737 or on A320 would be converted nto orders.
