This take over bid is a joke. Une farce. Een caféweddenschap.
There is no way that the trade court will accept it.
Because they will not be reimbursing your beloved passengers & travel agents? Or what?
It's a small fleet, we're not talking about the takeover of FedEx or UPS here.
The Belgian Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport (FOD Mobiliteit / SFF Mobilité) has to agree with the take over. But this public service is also Belgium's official National Enforcement Body for EU regulation 261/2004. There is no way that an official EU Enforcement Body can accept that a European Regulation is violated the way Air Belgium is doing.
The companies / persons who want to take over Air Belgium, have tried to start AeroTransCargo (ATC NL) back in 2021. Actually, the Dutch authority ILT rejected the AOC request for obvious reasons so AeroTransCargo went bankrupt before its first flight. Actually, the ATC owners (= the same who now want to take over Air Belgium) settled for 143.000 Euro with the ATC liquidators to avoid prosecution. I can't imagine that a Belgian trade court accepts a repeat of the same adventure.
It's about time that Terzakis publishes the 2022 and 2023 annual accounts from Air Belgium's administrator sprl "3T Management & Associates". Two years overdue for the 2022 account: is there something to hide?
I have no doubt that the Court will accept it. No one gives any objection to that. Even the offer of Airline Revival was quickly rejected at the hearing of this morning. If it gets through, it is still better than nothing. But yeah. €800,000 for the airline, it was previously evaluated at €589,000.
Looking back, imho, Air Belgium's unsuccessful passengers flight were mainly due to a lack of feeder services in general, either from AB which did not have any or from possible other airlines (which ones will you ask ; good question).
Still imho, if they did not try, why did AB not try to fly to JFK (as a first step) in co-operation/code share with AA that abandoned Brussels some years ago.
Would have been a possibility for AA to offer direct flights (although through another airline) between JFK and BRU, and AA had feeder services to/from JFK to help fill the planes. Was AA not interested when AB approached them or would AA have been interested if AB had approached them ? A missed opportunity ?

Why would AA have fed Air Belgium? They have a JV with BA and codeshare with QR. Moreover, why would any US airline have fed Air Belgium?

My English must be very bad. Apologies. I never meant that any US carrier should feed Air Belgium flight. The primary suggestion was to make it possible for AA to offer again a direct flight (or perhaps even two direct flightd a day) between New York (JFK) and Brussels without sending its passengers through London (or even Madrid). The feeding services are secondary, but could be useful if two flights per day had been considered, one in the early afternoon, one in the evening giving AA an advantage over its competitors that do not want to offer flights after twelve noon.
OMG, I messed it all up again, didn’t I, CS ?
@timtam
You are aware of course that IAG and American Airlines have a transatlantic joint venture sharing cost and revenues?
As well optimal slot pairs towards Western Europe from JFK are rather something not that easy to become or expensive to rent.
Even is someone from Air Belgium would have ever been interested to talk to American Airlines, why should anybody from American Airlines have been interested to talk to Air Belgium?
The concept of Air Belgium was to be a leisure airline, bringing initially Chinese tourist groups to Europe and as that failed the alternative strategy was leisure in the French speaking Caribbean. Both failed, regardless of the circumstances, which were tough with repect to flying rights over Russia initially and COVID afterwards.

Anybody with an update on this?
Normally the court would decide today.
Got approved. I can confirm RTBF's info.
So you where right
It is not a matter of being right or not, it is a matter of would it be filling all the conditions. And I wasn't sure that it would get approved after what Passenger rightfully said.
