Re: Air Belgium in 2024
My 0.02 EUR bet would be on DHL. Air Belgium has been and is still operating CVG for DHL. The A330s would fit into the DHL fleet. DHL used to rely on ABC B748s until the war in Ukraine broke out.
Re: Air Belgium in 2024
It's a European company with already a huge fleet. It's quite clear I think. There are not that many European companies....Established02 wrote: ↑28 Nov 2024, 18:19 My 0.02 EUR bet would be on DHL. My messages reflect my personal opinion which may be different than yours. I beleive a forum is made to create a debate so I encourage people to express themselves, the way they want, with the ideas they want. I expect the same understanding in return.
Re: Air Belgium in 2024
Exactly, I'm thinking in the direction of ASL. They have already from time to time flights from BRU. They are also very focused on the Asian market and they have also B747F in the fleet.
The A330F would be new for ASL as for Cargolux. Next week we will know
Re: Air Belgium in 2024
Cabin crew of Air Belgium can go to Brussels Airlines.

Re: Air Belgium in 2024
Dont think DHL would be interested , they already use loads of subcontractors , My bet is ASL , 747s to ASL Belgium and 330 to ASL Ireland
Re: Air Belgium in 2024
As they mention that potential overtaker has already a big fleet, I would but my 5 cents on Cargolux. And hope they fly by more often to Liege or Brussels.

Maersk Air Cargo, formerly branded as Star Air, is also mentioned.
Re: Air Belgium in 2024
This is a very specific company. Most of their planes are flying for UPS. Their fleet starts to be dated. For integrator is fine bcs the cost to lease them is cheap. Not sure if they want to make it more complicatedBoeing767copilot wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 20:35 Maersk Air Cargo, formerly branded as Star Air, is also mentioned.
In 3 days we will know and we will know also if they will keep BRU as a hub for Air Belgium

Google translate:
According to our information, the Danish shipping company Maersk, a world leader in its sector, would be the official buyer of Air Belgium, which has been in liquidation since September 2024. However, it is difficult to confirm the information, as the process of buying the Belgian airline is very confidential. Contacted by us, Maersk, which recently started operations at Liège Airport via its company Maersk Air Cargo, refused to comment on "market speculation or rumours". The only certainty is that the buyer is a European group with a large air fleet and that the offer only concerns the cargo division. This option announces job losses. Maersk represents a solid investor, with several decades of experience in freight transport, with its own fleet of 22 cargo aircraft and remarkable financial results. The Walloon Brabant Business Court is due to rule on Thursday, December 2024, on the reasoned offer submitted by the practitioner, Mr Bernard Vanham. But a postponement of the decision until December 12, or even December 19, is not excluded, according to another candidate for the takeover who did not submit his offer on time.

Re: Air Belgium in 2024
I hope that the trade court will look at the interests of all creditors instead of a foreign cargo airline, aiming a cheap deal.
Thousands of creditors have been misled by the airline: travellers, travel agents and touroperators. It's time to settle the bill, Air Belgium.

The buyer of Air Belgium will only keep 197 of the company’s 401 current employees, it was announced on Thursday before the Nivelles company court. The other 204 no longer have a place “in the short term” in the new project. The pilots, most of whom work under independent status, will all be taken on in the new entity. Only one takeover bid, for Air Belgium’s cargo activities (and not the passenger activities), had been submitted in time. It comes from a consortium of two companies: a Dutch one, PESO Aviation Management, and another British one, Air One Holding International. The latter claims to manage the fifth largest cargo fleet of wide-body aircraft in the world. As part of the takeover of Air Belgium, the buyer will add two aircraft to the Belgian company’s fleet.

De Tijd:

Cargo buyers Air Belgium are cutting 200 jobs
The new owner of Air Belgium's cargo activities is a consortium of two sector peers.
The only candidate buyer for Air Belgium's freight activities is a consortium of two industry peers. Their takeover plan only has room for 147 of the 349 jobs.
It had been clear for some time that interest in a takeover of the ailing Air Belgium was very limited. Last week, the airline itself indicated that there was only one buyer who had submitted a serious offer. And then only on Air Belgium's freight activities.
That potential acquirer appears to be a consortium consisting of the Dutch holding company Peso Aviation Management and Air One Holding International, which controls the fifth largest cargo fleet in the world. Air One Holding has three subsidiaries in England, Romania and Moldova. Air Belgium is added as the fourth subsidiary.
The consortium is putting 800,000 euros on the table for the takeover of Air Belgium's cargo activities. The buyers therefore offer more than the valuation of the airline's properties.
However, the takeover will be accompanied by a social bloodbath. Because of the 349 jobs, only 147 remain. There is no longer room in the company for 202 employees. The 130 cabin crew members will all lose their jobs.
Before the sale can take place, both the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the Nivelles Business Court must give their approval. Chinese shareholder Sichuan Airlines must also agree to the clause that the two leased aircraft from Air Belgium are available to the buyer.

They all can apply for the job as cabin crew with Brussels Airlines. They will not be too long unemployed.Boeing767copilot wrote: ↑05 Dec 2024, 13:11 De Tijd:

Re: Air Belgium in 2024
Brussels Airlines doesn't have the same language skill requirements than Air Belgium. Many cabin crew will not be hired by SN.
It's a little bit more complicated than you think.

Managing the fifth-largest cargo fleet in the world?Boeing767copilot wrote: ↑05 Dec 2024, 12:58 Only one takeover bid, for Air Belgium’s cargo activities (and not the passenger activities), had been submitted in time. First company in the buyers' consortium:
PESO Aviation Management B.V.
Mathenesserlaan 321-N
3021 HL Rotterdam
Little-known company with very few employees. There are 50 other companies at the same address!
Second company in the buyers' consortium:
AIR ONE INTERNATIONAL HOLDINGS LTD
1 Becketts Place, Hampton Wick,
Kingston Upon Thames, United Kingdom, KT1 4EQ
Cargo brokers, also little known. Two officers, the first one being an Indian. Two other officers resigned...
I have big doubts about the future of Air Belgium. The buyers' consortium doesn't have any planes on its own.

There is no way that the trade court will accept it.

It's a small fleet, we're not talking about the takeover of FedEx or UPS here.

Of course the court will accept it! Let’s not be naive!
